I've been searching for a new Canon Vixia HD camcorder, and had narrowed my choice down between the HF20 and the HG20. I found the HF20 on the Conn's site for $497. The next cheapest price that I could find online is $750. The camera is out of stock online, so I called my local store in Sugar Land, TX. They had the floor model + 1 new one in stock, so I just got back from picking up the new one. I also picked up a camera bag for it on clearance for $2.70.

So if you are interested in this camera, call your local Conn's and see if they still have it in stock. YMMV.

good one. made me laugh. good deal on a good cam btw.

Great deal. I Called Best Buy to see if they would price match, and was told they would honor the price. When I went to my local best buy in New Braunfels Tx. they refused to match the ad becaue they said the price was to low and the closest Conns was 23 miles away and not a competitor. I called the best buy in Shertz Tx. explained my disappointment in my local B.B. and they said they would have honored the ad but they were out of stock. I drove to see for myself. And GUESS WHAT! They had flipped the sign over and closed the display case. I showed interest in a Sony hd to get some service. When i expressed interest in the Canon the associate was curious to know why I wanted the Canon. I explained that I had researched it and it had excellent reviews online. After some more questioning he opened the sales case and low and behold a counter full of them. We picked up some accesories and then off to check out. Thats where i asked about the price match and there jaws dropped. They were forced to honor it because they said they would if they were in stock. Moral of the story DON'T LIE.

Good for you, Dealsteal830.

Thanks OP.

Thank You OP. Got one from BestBuy with a price match.

The HF21 will be out soon. I am in Ohio, so I cannot get this deal. I hope someone finds a deal that is available to more people. I have my eye on the HF200 or HF20.

Several of the Conn's in south FW (TX) still have the display model. I got the display from the south Arlington store and it is in excellent shape w/ all accessories. Tried to get an additional discount since it was the display model and they wouldn't bite (complained that it was already discounted by 43%).

So far I really like the camcorder's features and size. The biggest knock against it online was the performance in low-light situations. Haven't had a chance to try that out too much, but normal room lighting seemed fine. You can't fit a large lens/CCD in there with such a small form factor, so the low-light performance probably suffers a bit as a result.

This is a hot deal. Just got back from Lufkin and picked up the last 2. I told a buddy about the deal and we both decided it was well worth a small road trip from Shreveport. I tried to get Best Buy in Longview to match the price but the said Lufkin was not considered local. Any way we got the cameras and these things are cool! Thanks OP

By the way there is 1 camera left in Lafayette Louisiana. I have it on hold and my aunt was going to pick it up for me but since I was able to score in Lufkin I do not need it. If you have a local Conns where you live you can have it transffered to your store. So with that said I am calling them right now and telling them to no longer hold it for me. Good luck! By the way the picture quality is incredible. I can not believe something so small can do so much. Great camera and a killer deal.

Will you buy it and ship it to me??? ^_^

Too late, sorry. My aunt was passing through today and I had them put it on hold for me. Good news is no one bought it today bad news is I do not know anyone the will be there tomorrow. If you are near another Conns you could have them transfere it.

none anywhere near Ohio.

The floor models are still in stock at a couple of the Conn's in the Austin, TX area. I picked up a display model yesterday and it was in excellent condition as well. Barely any finger prints on it.

I tried it out in my house last night and it has amazing video quality, especially since it wasn't very bright in my house. I plan to 'play' with the camera outside this evening.

This camera is amazing. This is my first HD/flash camera so being able to shoot test video and not waste media is great. Good by expensive mini DV tapes . It does have some noise in low light but for the price can not beat it. Far as I know there should be one in Laffayet still. Good luck to whom ever. Also put in a request to have it transferred if your local Conns is out.

Thanks OP!

Bought one today at best buy in Portland OR for $549.99 plus free camcorder starter kit worth $32.99

Firstly the person said he wouldn't honor the price match when mentioned about Conn's (as they don't operate in Oregon). But later he negotiated saying he would come down to 550 and gave starter kit.But Amazon shows me that the starter kit is ~$13.Anyways i'm happy for the deal.

fordium: care to post or send me a copy of a receipt? I am in CA and there are no conns here either. Was wondering if your scheme would work here in CA. thanks!

did a price match today with 10% off coupon and the final price came down to $495+starter kit. Don't have a scanner so cannot post the receipt here.

This deal is expired at Conn's sometime back. How did you do the price match now at a different store and you don't have Conn's at your location? Tell us the trick, I want to get one.

I don't know if I was lucky but here is what I did,

Visited a BB store and mentioned about Conn's and Hf20 deal. Sales guy searched Conn's site and found HF20 isn't available there. But we mentioned that we saw the deal before day.
Meanwhile store manager came in and said he would offer it for 550.We said YES
While at the cash register we mentioned about Camcorder starter kit. They searched through BB site and found any camcorder over 499 comes with free starter kit. So he had to give it.
And later in the week I found a 10% off coupon at eBay.Bought the coupon for $1. And we went into another BB store near by and asked them to price match with this coupon. And to my surprise they did without asking a question.

So final price of HF20 at BB was 495 with starter kit.

Hope this helps.

Excellent deal for CANON HF20 - Woww.....hey canu tell me if they give for same price even now????

I am very very curious to find out this deal for CANON HF20

the Black Friday BestBuy ad has the HF20 for $499

I own the HF20, I recommend getting an additional battery... the one it comes with (BP-809) will last about 1 hour on a full charge. I bought a BP-819 which lasts between 2.5 and 3 hours on a full charge.
It looks like Best Buy will also have the BP-819 battery along with an 8' HDMI to mini HDMI cable for only $100 more on Black Friday.
