(FIRST POST EVER for a deal... GO EASY) Just got back from my local costco (Independence, MO) and right when i walked in they had 73 inch Mitsubishi's with free pre assembles stand (sells for 300+ on Amazon). I was back there 45 minutes later with my truck. Also Signed up for the executive membership (extra Cash Back) Used my American Express card (more Cash Back) so using all that I got an extra 2 years on the warranty and an EXTRA 3% off (will get the 3% back at the end of the year. Pretty sure this is the hottest deal around. I know they had these tv for about 1800 on here a month ago but at my costco they had the stand with it. Hopefully your costco will have it also. Let me know. Good Luck

Not bad for a first post.

Thanks. I have used this site for about 3 years now. Never found a good enough deal until now. Hope you guys can all get in on it

Just called corporate costco. They do not offer the deal online, but they did say it is being sold in stores. I am on my way to wait outside my local costco now. Free Stand for it makes the deal even sweeter

A calibrated 67"er only sucks down ~120W, so this could conceivably be less than ~150W calibrated (energy star rating is ~200W). Half the power draw of a smaller plasma (~350-400W for a 60") plus the extra real estate for a few hundred bucks more seems pretty hot.

Whoa, why go to the theatre if you have this?? Green for New OP!! Thanks!

I love energy savings

I've had a samsung DLP for 4 years and it was good until about a month ago. The DMD board broke and I got the "vertical line syndrome" that many have talked about in DLP land. Basically, the TV is trash now, but I did pick up a new 50" LG plasma display, and I must say that the image quality (i.e. contrast, brightness) are superior to the DLP I had for sure. Plus, new plasmas use much less energy than the old ones did, and, for the most part, DLP's. Unless you score one of those LED DLP's (DMD problem could still occur), I would stay away from the DLP arena having being burnt by my experience. I am sure plasma's have their fair share of problems too, but with the difference in image quality I'll stay with this for now.

RE: energy efficiency - this mitsu seems pretty good about energy especially for the size. I still say get a LED DLP if you want a RPTV.

My Costco in Indy has the WD-73C9 model of this 73" tv w/ stand for $1799

Ive had a 65" dlp Toshiba for a couple years now and paid $1499 for the tv....if i didnt haver this id jump all over this 73" especially with the free stand ...awesome deal!!! I think dlp is the way to go, u get the huge size for less money then a plasma and the picture quality is amazing.

I had a 62" Toshiba DLP from Costco as well...The bulb went out at 1400 hours (about 15 months) - it actually started getting dim around 1100 hours. Since the TV was purchased before the policy change, they gave me a full refund and I bought the 65" Mitsubishi w/ stand (WDC657)...I had no qualms about bringing it back because the bulb should last longer that 1400 hours...

I am very happy with Mitsubishi so far...

I have the LCD projection from Panasonic and I need to change the bulb every 18 months or so. Do you get the same problem with the Mit DLP?

I asked them at costco about that before i purchased. They told me bulb should last well beyond the warranty but if not to contact them or mits. (whoever is protecting me the year out of the 3 years warranty) and they should replace it. If not its a cheap bulb

That's strange, I have a 6 yr old Panasonic RPTV that I haven't changed the bulb on once. That being said, I do have to turn the brightness all the way up to get the picture that it had when new, so I'm sure it's time for a new bulb.

Your RPTV is probably not DLP, but a CRT based RPTV which use vacuum tubes for projection rather than a replaceable bulb.

The BIG problem is not the bulb life on Mitsu's projection, but the board capacitors that go out and costs over 600 to replace after about two years. One day the TV will stop turning off and on, and you will get a flashing green light. I loved the picture on mine, but the cap failure is apparently a common thing, and too expensive for my taste to repair.

Not sure why anyone would spend nearly $1900 after tax for this outdated and obsolete technology.
If you really have to have the huge screen, simply go "all out" and get a front projector.
You'll get a much better picture at a better price without the eyesore of a 6 foot box in your living room.

projectors dont have tuners.

projectors typically dont have enough inputs.

projectors have issues in rooms with a lot of ambient light.

a projector and a screen that has "much better picture" will nto be at a better price.

projectors typically have a noisy fan.

projectors require specific mounting and placement which may not be available for everyone.

what kind of capacitors went bad? the capacitors on the power supply on my samsung and it cost me 8 bucks in replacement capacitors to repair and i still have bags full of capacitors in case it happens again.

Not to mention unless you plan on spending money to have all the wires hidden in the ceiling. Unless you plan on having it sit in the middle of the room. You say it is an "obsolete technology" yet the picture quality is just as good as any tv i have seen....oh yea and i can hook my regular nintendo up to it and play mario. Duck hunt doesn't work though, the screen is so big the gun doesn't register (not complaining about that at all)

It actually doesn't work because it is DLP. The light gun with the N-64 requires a CRT.
But I am still JEALOUS !

That happens with the bulb goes bad and needs to be replaced. Did you get a quote from a repairman who knew what they are doing?

Unfortunately thats the lesser version of the 73737. I just purchased the 73737 from TigerDirect for $1700, free shipping and no tax, after the bing 15% CashBack. Frome order to delivery looks like 5 days, and two of them were sat-sun.

I have heard many complaints about Panasonic lately including a personal friend who needed a repair on 4 different occassions in 1 year. Google them and beware.

I have the WD-73736 version of this TV and besides the DLP Rainbow Effect that I actually do notice severely at times (many do not) it is a FANTASTIC display. I still am taken back from time to time at how clear the pic is, and now inexpensive this display was at this size. You may also occasionally get a spider that crawls in via the vents and scares the heck out of my on screen, but again, this is a stunning display.

My matching Mitsu TV stand for it cost $400, so this deal is smokin.
