Reminder. I bought this same player from Buy.com a couple of weeks ago, @ about the same price. Had to come up w/ blu ray software since this is OEM.

Good find op. However, the right name is "Blu-Ray", not "Blue Ray" as is currently in your title.
Not saying that to be picky, just that some people may have alerts set up for "blu-ray" in the title, and they won't get alerted for this one.
For instance, I was notified because I have an alert for "blue" in case there are sales for the "Blue Man Group".

I bought this exact model, and software for windows was included, even in the oem bundle. Note that ewiz.com had this for $55.99 just yesterday, but the $5 off coupon is no longer working. If you're patient, there have been better deals for these, and the price will continue to drop.

Fixed. Thanks.

Also bought this same model 2 weeks ago for $65 at ZZF. It was OEM but came with a copy of PowerDVD8. It's worked great so far.

As the price of Blu-Ray readers is like a rolling rock. When will the burners be the next?

This is a good price for BDROM.

I don't think that will be a problem, the price of a blank will be. DL still hang over $1 and they been out for a while. Blu-ray blank will also need a hard coating so it make the price more expensive but I don't if it will be more expensive to make than double layers.

$4/ a pop is no deal (my opinion- but there're people who think otherwise and rated the deal as good) as of current price.

Two suggestions needed and will help Mini Dell buyers,

1. Is it s good idea to buy this and put in external enclosure to use as USB external drive for Hackintoshing.
2. If yes, then any pointer to external enclosure and sweeter if their is a deal on external BD one.

Just protecting investment and assuming BD-ROM works like ordinary DVD-ROMs for booting and all the computing stuff.

I hope you all realize this does NOT write DVDs.

The reviews on Newegg indicate that it comes with PowerDVD8.
Yet another reason why Newegg rules so much and Buy.com.. well.. sucks.

I pulled the trigger on this... Now I'm a little worried. The most current review says that no software was included. I hope I get lucky!

OEM means barebones - no software or cables. Could you get lucky and get software? Sure.. but don't expect it.

It's actually Blu-ray (lowercase r), but who's keeping track.

I know OEM traditionally meant no software, but the version of Power DVD that comes with players now is practically crippleware. I wouldn't be surprised to hear they give it to everyone to throw in for free hoping they can get the upgrade fees.

Yes, OEM usually means no retail packaging, manual, software, drivers, etc... The first three reviews mentioned the 'included software' and this influenced my decision. I hope I get lucky, but I can't really complain if it's not included.

Eep! Good to know I got lucky . I'm not using my copy of the bundled software; I'm going the rip/decode/play route with my dvr. It takes a while, especially with these slower readers, but then my nephews don't have to handle the disc and scratch it up whenever they come over and want to watch a movie. Watch out for the DRM police- there's this crazy user on these forums named "squinky86" who viciously assaults anyone who talks about ways of removing DRM, since that violates his country's DMCA. You better PM someone instead of advertising that ability.

EDIT: Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go on to bed. Maybe my wife will let me get even luckier tonight...

Woo Hoo! It came today w/ software.

FYI, for those of you that are thinking of getting the PowerDVD Ultra 9 upgrade, you can register on CyberLink's site before your purchase to become a 'member'. This will get you a 10% off coupon toward the upgrade. I am going to hold off and use the included PDVD8 for now.
