Thanks! I ordered two of these Thursday, should be delivered on Monday. Hope they work as well as the reviews say, if they do I'll be ordering one or two more. They are still selling them for $39.99 today hope they still are tomorrow...
Not sure why they advertise these as 200 Mbps. It isn't a gig switch, each port only handles 100 Mbps max so the most you could possibly get is 100 Mbps on any device. Maybe the 200 Mbps rating is if you have two or more devices downloading simultaneously?

I wondered the same thing. Since these have AES encryption, I wondered if part of the extra speed (that you most likely won't see anyway due to house wiring, distance, losses, etc) is to cover the AES encryption and other features (such as QOS that is built in).
Still on the fence on this one. Will probably reset to regular price on Monday. Newegg usually does this.
If this is like other devices I’ve seen claiming 200mbps, they’re probably just playing w/ the terminology to make it look better.
Most any 100mbps switch is full duplex, meaning it supports 100mbps (max) on both the sending and receiving side, and simultaneously. That adds up to 200mbps. But normally no one publishes 200mbps in their spec because it’s deceiving. You can’t actually push 200mbps throw the switch in ONE direction, only the aggregate of 100mbps each way. But for marketing purposes, some manufacturers will promote their products as 200mpbs to make you believe you’re getting something better than any other switch manufacturer who’s also selling 100mbps switches. You’re not. They’re all the same; 100mbps (full duplex).
IOW, it’s just a marketing gimmick. I suspect these powerline adapters are doing the exact same thing. It’s 100mbps max each direction, just like your typical 100mbps switch. And that's a SHARED maximum throughput too, across ALL concurrent users.
