FAR cheaper for me (a single person with one vehicle) than AAA with very comparable services.
Text

I am not sure if its cheap for more than a person/car. Also, what about the quality of the service?

I have this (learnt from Fatwallet) and it works fine for us. (Comparison of various clubs)

ComeOnNow, can you give us your experience with them? How many times did you use them, reasons, response times?

I have used them exactly once over couple of years and the experience was fine. Just like other auto clubs, they call an independent pick up truck service and service does the rest. As I had mentioned, I got the recommendation from a post at this site and they had recommended it based on their experience.

Hell, I make more in AAA discounts every year than the cost of the service.

I've make great deals with FW and internet codes, so I'd like to know what discounts cannot be found online, but are only with AAA. I have GM motor club btw.

what AAA discounts do you get? I have it and never use it!

statefarm offer me for like 10$ for 6 months, but you need to call any road assistance on your own, and then reimburse the fee. So far I use it 3-4 times like once a year. They reimburse quickly no question asked.

i probably save $20-30 just from aaa restaurant discounts

Their inoffice dmv counter also saves a ton of time instead of going to dmv

be careful using road service attached to your auto insurance- it often counts as a claim and can lead to higher insurance rates

you do not need to be aaa member to use dmv counter at the aaa office; i have gm motor club.

ditto about towing reimbursement from insurance company; it's a claim and you don't want claims if you want the best rate

beware of motor clubs that have strict limitations on number of service calls. several (like shell mc) will dis-member you if you go beyond the limit. shell booted me after 3 calls in one year (i have 3 cars). I've had 5 in a year with gm mc w/no issues.

"As a member, your vehicle can be towed up to 150 miles to a location of your choice for free."

if you can get that long of a tow for $49, it's a good deal... weird how they insure either cars or people.

That seems pretty damn harsh!!

AAA members get free maps and tourbooks of any place in the country. Do these guys have that? Not to mention the doscount on Hotels, Car rentals etc. Though most of the times you can get equivalent discounts elsewhere too such as Orbitz etc. Anyway i find it convinient to use AAA discounts.

AAA gives 5% off UPS shipments for one. I just got $3 off airport shuttle. Check your AAA web page and find out. They have local discounts listed by location.

my aaa will not let nonmembers use dmv counter

It probably varies by location whether they enforce this

I just checked and its 65 for me in my area.(utah)

AAA's discount with Penske Moving saved me more than I paid for the membership. AAA is worth it to me.

Just add to your ATT Wireless phone for $3 per month

Hotels, attractions and show discounts are some of them. Plus you get tons of maps free.

I go to AAA once a year to get my tags for the car. It takes 5 minutes and the time saved alone is worth $40. Not having to deal with the sarcastic philosphers who work at the DMV is probably worth another $40. The only downside to AAA is that it's not as entertaining to go to the local office, but at the DMV, it's as if it's Halloween everyday.

For me personally biggest advantage of AAA is 10% off on online Target purchases

Has anyone bothered to click on "About Us" or "Customer Service"? The results are fascinating.

Also first month is free so 13 months for $36

Ha, hiliarious that placeholder text got out on a public site. Guess that speaks for the company as well, no thanks, I need a tow company I can rely on!

What state do you live in? I do my online it cost $1.00 extra for postage. I haven't been to a DMV in years since my last DL renewal.

I am in Cali. As a semi-professional procrastinator, I wait until the last week before it's due, or even the day of, to pay. I can walk into the AAA office and get my tags on the spot and not have to worry about it being lost in the mail, or any other possible complications. Call it immediate gratification.

+1 I saved the $69 yearly fee on just one vacation JUST on lower hotel rates. I saved $30 on tickets for two attractions, extra on meals, etc etc etc....

AAA offers insurance in Ca. We bought our current house after it had undergone some major improvements (second story, etc - all permitted, to code), which most homeowner carriers would not touch, and AA was about the only one that would even touch it. 11 years later, we now have all of our insurance with them (cars, jetski, umbrella), as the prices are EXTREMELY competitive, the service is excellent (we have had the same contact person for all 11 years), and the coverage has been awesome - couple of teenage accidents, some damage to another vehicle.

Sorry, I have been a loyal AAA member since I learned to drive. AAA is one of the few companies I have ZERO complaints about. Their roadside service is the best and have saved my bacon over the decades I have been with them.

I have decided against insuring our umbrella. I just keep buying new ones.

edit: spelling

been paying for AAA for years and yesterday finally had a need to use them beyond an occasional jump. my alternator went out 75 miles from home. no problems with AAA at all. tow truck showed up, towed me home, and "NO CHARGE". driver told me this tow would have cost $425-$450 so I finally got something out of it. Thanks AAA.

If you need to switch from cable, they have a signup deal with DirecTV for a $10/month discount over the 24 month contract over and above any current promo deal they are doing. Just doing that deal covered my AAA membership for the past couple years.

My wife also used a special promo the other month for 25% off at NY & Co that saved us a bit of cash. Not to mention hotels & restaurants in some places & discount tickets to Biltmore House in Asheville, NC. No problems with towing service either whenever I needed to use it.

You might have to edit again.

Man, What Insurance company are you using any way?

That is about the cheapest backdoor, anti-consumer tactic I have heard in a long time.

Try educating yourself http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Umbrella_insurance Essential in our increasingly letigious society if you have equity in your home or own any substantial assets - most people don't, and learn the hard way...

Thanks for the reference. Now let me return the favor here.

Skipping 29 Messages...

I am really confused, why did the OP get so much red? It looked like a sincere effort to help

I have one car. Two insured drives use the car. I don't travel more than 15 miles from home 99% of the time, and the car is only used about once a week.

I am trying to decide which road service is the best for me.
