I was searching for a creme brulee torch, so I needed a butane torch. went to Home Depot and bed bath and beyond, insanely priced over $20. anyways search DealExtreme and found this one nice reviews and under $3.

Negative. It'll melt the spoon.
There IS no spoon...

I wouldn't buy this model if I were you. Yes they work well but I have already had 2 explode on me. Both were ordered from DealExtreme. If you ever drop this on a hard surface be absolutely sure there are no small fractures or it could blow up in your hand. If you plan to order from DealExtreme I would recommend buying one of their mini-torches that is encased in metal rather than cheap plastic. I haven't had any of my metal torches blow up on me.
One I bought from DX did not have butane in it. My be it was my ignorance but its sitting in the side without *juice*. Don't know where to get and how to put butane in it!

kidding aside, it's pretty easy to find butane refill cans. they sell the small ones at Home Depot for $3.
but if you ever did a chinese hotpot, then you already have butane in your house.
I bought one of these pos and it broke the first use. Stay away from it and but something that is a better quality. So cheap and so crappy, who needs it?

Sorry to reply to an older thread, but I've been looking at lighters on DE for quite awhile and just wanted a small one that isn't bulky, and without any stupid gimmicks (jewels, etc), but all the small metal ones seem to have problems. But this and this, while not the size/shape I wanted, seem to have pretty good reviews. Are they incased in metal, or just silver plastic?
Also, do all of these cheap prices Chinese lighters have trouble holding butane for period of time? That was one of the complaints on some of the ones I read.
Slickone said: Anyone? I really want a lighter.OK. I bought 5 of these back in August. I gave out 3 as gifts. I am a hardcore cigar smoker, and use mine nearly every day. After 5 months or so, these things are the real deal. They work fine, haven't had any problems with them. They hold butane fine, easy to see when they need refill. I have a very nice Nibo triple flame torch that burns through the butane like a maniac. These cheapos use considerably less.
I've received no complaints and nothing but high praise from my fellow cigar smokers whom I've given these to.
After 5 months they are more reliable than my Colibri torch, which is finicky about the quality of butane you feed it. These have worked even with my old cheapo generic butane.

the stuff that looks like metal is really metal. the housing that holds the butane is plastic. so far it's been almost 3 months.. and the butane i put in it is still there.. except for the bit i used of course..
