Many here might have various types of subscriptions to watch TV. I, for one never had a subscription and always watch some clips here and there wherever it says Free Online. Today I got an email from Trueroots for 35% off any package..with two weeks free including 2weeks free Video on demand. I used the Promocode Trueroots during checkout and it gave a 14.99 package for $9.xx (a subscritpion to three channels). You can link your lappy to a projector or TV. Though they say only for True roots customers, I am not one but could still subscribe. Also you can watch anywhere you want. However, I see most of Zee channels and no Star TV Link I think this is good...but waiting for suggestions whether there are any better ones out there. NO REASON and red...
Video Quaity is good in pc, while turning the full screen it is good in my OLD CRT as well (via SVIDEO). But the limitation of number of channel is one issue here..

Thanks ...I agree with amritapa about limited channels...but at least I hope it will be better than others (in price and quality At best try it free for two weeks...that is what I am going to do...Same like StarzPlay from Verizon...you can see all the movies on their site for $6.00 if you are a Verizon customer ad if not $10. They also have 2 weeks free. I checked their quality. The files are small and of DVD quality. You ca either download and watch later or watch online. I hope Tata's WatchIndia will also have good quality

Checkout/using PAYPAL (if u have one) and in the final value in PAYPAL it says " 0.0 USD for first 14 days and then 16.79 per month under your subscription option of PAYPAL". JB-007 said: amritapa said: JB-007 said: scorpio3012 said: No Kalaignar set of channels, No Star Vijay, No Jaya TV?

this is good but does anyone know of any good streaming sites like desitv.com? i wouldn't trust watchindia as i've heard of horror stories where the site goes down yet you are charged on your visa card for years to come

Signed for the Yearly Mega Plan...it has a 20% discount already. So in the end it would come to $13/month. Hopefully I can cancel anytime during the year and get a partial refund.
Have played with it for 30 minutes. My Set Up: Mac Mini connected to a 42" LCD TV (thru DVI)
Video quality is good for a small window. But full screen, it doesn't scale well. Some channels are better than others...but overall its very average (I am still dreaming someone can do Hulu like quality for Indian stuff).
The good news: There is no stuttering. The video is continuous...smooth streaming. The interface is decent
Bottom Line: This is by far the best streaming I have seen for Desi stuff. I am going to try it for 2 weeks...and see if I can live with the Full Screen video quality. $13/Month for so many channels is a pretty good deal... Will update the post.

Nice find. Its under settings. But the choice doesn't stick....everytime u have to go to settings to activate high quality. I am still not impressed with the video quality on a 42" screen.

Watch as often as you want, anytime you want. The Video on Demand you service is included with your membership at no additional cost. $9.99 a month – per Single Channel (Unlimited viewing time) 2 weeks of Video on Demand - no additional fee. $14.99 a month – for 3 Channels (Unlimited viewing time) 2 weeks of Video on Demand - no additional fee. $17.99 a month – for 5 Channels (Unlimited viewing time) 2 weeks of Video on Demand - no additional fee. $24.99 a month – for all Channels (Unlimited viewing time) 2 weeks of Video on Demand - no additional fee.
Ok I signed up. Good: Nice video quality, for the price I guess. It is not so bad. Quick buffering, lightweight video player. Video on demand is great, it also includes a large number of movies that you can watch on demand.
Bad: Not so great video quality in full screen mode. You have to click on the setting and choose High Quality each time as it does not retain the setting. High Quality will vary on the content, sometimes no difference from the Low Quality. Channels are limited, no Sony, TV Asia or Star. I went for 3 channels as most of the other main channels are in regional languages. After signing up, could not find a place to edit my account primarily for cancellation. Am I missing the obvious?
All in all a good alternative if this is what you want. Would have been great if the Mega Pak contained all the main channels. I could have then cancelled the dish network and made some good use of my HTPC while saving some real bucks...
If you signed up via PAYPAL u can canceal it by PAYPAL account itself, otherwise you need to call CUSTOMERCARE to cancel it.

IMHO, do you only need one channel for India TV? Coz' almost all Indian TV I have seen is one man/one girl is sing, the others just dance forever from the very first beginning to the end.
I called them and asked, and they said this stuff is legal and is being done with permission from the TV channels (who are in turn getting reimbursed for it).
Those going for annual pack, there will be a $20 cancellation fee, beware!
The $20 cancellation fee doesn't apply for month to month plan.
