First, I saw this on SD and I'm posting it here so credit goes to fxex over there.
With that out of the way, apparently the promo code "windows mobile" works for the Touch Pro 2. While some people may think $149 for a phone on a contract is rather expensive, keep in mind that without this you'd be paying $350 for the phone. Yea, that's quite a bit more. From the original post: fxex said: Hallo. My 1st thread so be easy on me please. I have been here for a while and want to give back a little bit. I have not found this info anywhere on web yet. This is what I did this wednesday august12th: I had an idea to call T-Mobile T-Mobile Business Direct at 866-464-8662 (push 3) - mention promo code "windows mobile" same as couple years ago when I got my wing from them to check on availability of this new phone. Guess what - they started selling this phone same day as T-Mobile just for WAY better price plus no activation and free shipping. I got data plan (thats all I need for this htc) for 39.99usd, data plan is mandatory. Here is the link to OLD wing thread http://archive.slickdeals.net/sho...p?t=798693 everything is pretty same just now T-Mobile requires 2 years contract. Hope this help!
Also to add, you must have a data plan for this ($39.99 without a voice plan and $24.99 with a voice plan) and it is only available over the phone.

CheapBustard said: Don't you get a better deal going through bing to T-Mobile.com (35% CashBack)? No because the normal price is $350. 65% of $350 (35% off) is $227.50, plus you're going to have to pay extra tax on that $350.
I meant comparing to the upgrade price at T-Mobile.com through Bing (that would be 65% of $200 = $130 + tax + probably some stupid fees like upgrade fee, shipping, not sure what else). Because you still need to have a contract (albeit apparently don't have to have voice service) with this "Windows Mobile" promotion.

data service is mandatory! tmobile will charge it to your bill!

Data is mandatory but voice service apparently isn't, I can't confirm this but the poster at SD said that this is the case.
how can i just have data and not voice? i have tried that with T-Mobile before and they didn't let me. They said data plan is additional service, not stand-alone service
Interesting it has a data only req. this is a first that I've heard of this sort... would make a good VoIP phone with data. T-Mo is rather limited in 3G coverage though and I can't believe they (i.e. the last hold-out) require data now. I betchya though, one could sign up; then call and say you realized that you don't need data or that the coverage was too spotty and get the data removed from the plan... and the 1st week or two of service.
Now... if Sprint matches this price Sept 3rd, I'm in like Flynn on a Touch Pro II and Samsung Instinct HD!
"data plan required" Yup - called to confirm back when it was first released. Same with the Dash 3G. Rats. $24/mo for unlimited data is pretty good - but not compelling until 3G coverage is better.

Just called and signed up for this.
I am an existing tmo customer with the loyalty plan so did not want to lose that.
The rep informed that this discount would apply only to adding a new line of service and cannot upgrade my existing number.
He then added me to the unlimited family plan with a second line for the HTC. Said once I activate the HTC then I could call in and cancel my original line . That way I get the HTC Touch Pro without shelling out the 350$.
Lets see if it works else I will just cancel the new line or get an Iphone.
Any other current Tmobile customers get in on this deal?

I was told my other line (out of contract) can be closed no problem and transfer my phonenumber to the new line. Let see what happens I heve until the 7th to cancel my other line.

Free blue tooth headset 7. $10.00 extra line charge So this deal is still good to go for those interested. DonnaB

Yeah, WM is a beast to set up the way you like it, but as far as capability goes, tethering is a non-issue, apps are plentiful and varied, and the options (such as using google voice) are pretty cool.
