It isn't a terrible price for the brand. Compared to generic no-name cards it isn't spectacular, but I have been watching prices for 8gb Sandisk Ultra III cards for a while and this is the best I have seen. It doesn't even require a rebate. Pricegrabber lowest is $65 shipped Froogle lowest is $65 shipped I don't even know who JaWow is. Currently at Amazon at this link it is $34.82 + $1.95 shipping http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001940S1C/ref=s9_simz_gw_s0_p2... Or here for $32.35 + $3.99 shipping http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0018M256G/ref=s9_simz_gw_s0_p2...

I think I got those for $3 during last Thanksgiving.
@musicgreg: This actually is a pretty bad price for these particular cards.
I have three Sandisk 8GB Extreme III 30MB/s edition* Compact Flash cards (as seen here) that, after rebate, I paid less than $11 dollars for. That's $11 for all three cards, or under $4 each.
I also have three Sandisk 8GB Extreme III 20MB/s edition SD cards that I paid $18 for after rebate. Again, that was for all three cards, so $6 each.
Granted, that $4/card deal might only come around once or twice a year, but much better deals than this are common if you can wait a few weeks. I settled for the 20MB/s SDHC cards for more money because I was in a hurry and couldn't wait. And, hey, that's still a great price for a great card. Plus I wasn't going to see any increase in performance in a camcorder unlike the CF cards which are used in a DSLR where the write speed affects how many shots can be taken in a burst.
But, again, the point is that if you're able and willing to wait, you will almost certainly find a much better deal than this. And, while I'm not positive, I wouldn't be at all surprised if you could find a better deal right now with the current round of rebates being offered by Sandisk. Here's a link to the rebate form that details rebate amounts and eligible merchants (I couldn't hot link to the rebate itself, but could to this page which, in turn, links to the rebate form).
FYI: I sent my most recent Sandisk rebate in on 7/13. I just checked the status on line and my 'check' was mailed a couple of days ago. Note that it isn't really a check - they send you a prepaid Visa debit card, but I had no trouble spending my last one.
*NOTE: The 30MB/s cards are clearly labeled as such on the card itself.

Care to share some details?
B & H has the Sandisk 8GB EXTREME III cards for about $40 (CF) and $54 (SDHC) after rebate. This is the best price I have found.
I have been looking for deals on the SDHC cards, but have not seen anything better that the OP's.

Care to share some details? It was a deal at Abes of Main back in March 09. I bought 3 Sandisk 8GB extreme III cards for $109.85 and got $90 rebate back; 3 cards for $19.85 (or $6.xx each).
I bought those SDHC cards in April of this year. The deal was posted over at SD and I don't think that FW would like me posting a link to a competitor's website. But if you go to that other website and append "/showthread.php?sduid=307273&t=1294599" to the end of the URL, you'll see the details of the deal.
I'll attach a copy of the current rebates to this post so it's easier to get to that the link in my previous post.
As for beating this deal.... The very first site I checked, Adorama (a very reputable store, for those not in-the-know), can beat this deal.
Adorama is selling this same card for $57.95 with free shipping and there's a $20 rebate available (link). That's $37.95. Not great yet. But the way the Sandisk rebates work is that the more you buy, the more you save - for up to three identical cards. So if you were to buy three cards, that would be $57.95 each x 3 cards = $173.85 total - $90 rebate = $83.85 total AR / 3 cards = $27.95 shipped per card AR. Yes, that's a lot of hope riding on a rebate, but the Sandisk rebates are very dependable.
And I wouldn't be surprised if you could find a qualified retailer selling this, or maybe even the 30MB/s edition, at a cheaper starting point, which would make for an even better deal.
Yeah, FW'rs are pretty unforgiving when past specials have been alot lower priced. We've all been spoiled by the SanDisk $90/3 rebates which come along fairly regularly. I've gotten in on two of them and received both $90 rebates with no hassles. Don't fret bout it, red's a good color especially during xmas
One of the first deals I posted got a ton of red and I thought people were being jerks.... But they're just voting on how good the deal is, that's it. (Well, sometimes jerks get voted down regardless of the quality of the deal, but you weren't being a jerk.)
It's great that you wanted to share a deal you found. And now you know that you can find the cards you want even cheaper.
BTW, not sure if anyone else knows this, but you can actually cash in one of those VISA stored value cards as soon as you get it -- without having to carry it around trying to spend down the card. Just take it to any bank and have them do a cash advance on the card. NO FEE is levied, and you' get your money on the spot. Scott

Scott May be YMMV, as an alert teller could notice that the card says "No Cash Access" right above your signature.

I usually prepay/overpay my utility bills (those accpet CCs, like Dish) as soon as I get these.
If it is getting close to expiring, you can use it to purchase an Amazon gift card of the exact balance. The GC won't ever expire, and, if you're anything like me, you'll be spending that amount of money at Amazon sooner or later anyway.
