It is the worlds largest bank note. It has no monetary value, but I ordered a few just because I thought it would make a cool gift. If you put 10 bills together I don't even know what you call that anymore.

Cheapest I found is through eBay. Couple site sell them for $10 a piece, but you can find it on eBay for $2 after shipping. I also picked up a Penny, through it would be cool to own the worlds most worthless minted money.

Finally I can reach my dream of being a trillionair!

Unfortunately the way the U.S. government is spending trillions and printing money we may see this in U.S. dollars someday.

I can do better than that, I have a 100 Zim dollar bill from 1997. These are "old" Zim dollars (although they were the new Zim dollar at the time). The Zim dollar has been devalued 1,000:1 and 100,000:1 since then I think, so my bill is worth 1 quintillionth as much as this worthless 100 trillion zim dollar bill. It's truly worth billions of times as much as toilet paper as at its face falue.

Show me $2 shipped on eBay. Cheapest I see is $2.99 shipped for singles...that seller offers buy 3 get 1...still not $2 each. I have been interested in picking up a couple of these since they were first introduced, but hate the thought of paying much at all for a worthless note.

I bought $100 billion about a year ago for about 3 United States Federal Reserve Notes. What a rip!

OMG I am now a 500 trillionair.

Thanks op

Tempting. Could pay off of the Federal deficit right away. Mugabe rocks...literally!

well if their economy completely does a 180 and Zimbabwe becomes a super power... hello yacht

Still worth more than my old GM stock...

Can't show you, because FW frowns on direct links to eBay.

But if you SEARCH eBay, using "100 Trillion Zimbabwe", you get TONS of hits.

Found 10 notes for 20 shipped (US seller), and 10 notes for 19.99 Shipped (UK Seller).

BOTH of those are below 2 bucks shipped.

After bing and eBay, you could get even lower...

I know you said a couple, but.... if you pay 2.99 each, you can get 3 (your way). For about the same, and waiting for UK Seller, you can get 10!

*then sell a couple off to you friends for 2 bucks each (sell 4 or 5 and you now have the remainder for FREE!)*

Your looking at buy it now, most of these 100 million don't end over 2 dollars with bids, and free shipping.

I think it would be more fun to just wipe my ass with the two dollars and flush em than to buy these...but thats just me...

If you got extra disposable income, maybe buy a stack or 2 and use it as monopoly money.

Why do I get the feeling that the "Treasury Czar" appointment will be somebody from zimbabwe?

ha, ha don't laugh too hard...

As long as it's not worth 1 yen...

You know, in Brazil during the 80s, inflation was so high prices had to be adjusted on goods hourly. Men would get paid 2x a day and quick have their wives run to the store with their morning pay before prices went up. Hyperinflation is hilarious to watch, not so much to be apart of.

They will introduce a googolplex bill soon.

I think that so long as oil (or energy in general) remains denominated in dollars, that won't happen. Probably the real reason we're overseas.

Why there isn't any monetary value to this? Isn't this legal tender in Zimbabwe?

Zimbabwe cancelled their currency, and is using the US dollar now

With US dollars being printed at a rapid pace, we may also see significant inflation in a couple of years. Only a matter of time before the world chooses another currency to trade commodities...

If I were to buy one of these and travel to Zimbabwe, what would that buy me?

Nope, it's not legal tender anymore. They're trying to push to using US dollars. Also their economy is going to take a good many years, their national yearly export is like 278USD, yes just Two Hundred Seventy Eight Dollars.

Thanks, but if I remember correctly, these things are normally double sided. No?
And it will still cost you paper and ink/toner but I assume it will be less than $2.

Seigniorage (government spending backed by printing money) is illegal in most countries since it causes hyperinflation.

US government do not fund spendings by printing money; it rather increase money supply by lowering interest rate.

Technically, the hundred trillion dollar note issued by Zimbabwe (of which I have two) is not the largest denominated bill ever printed/issued. It does have the most zeros of any note ever printed, but the Hungarian 1 Milliard Billion pengo note in 1946 was the equivalent of 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 pengo (or one sextillion pengo). It was never issued, but the 100 Million Billion pengo was issued in 1946 with an equivalent value of 100,000,000,000,000,000,000 pengo (or 100 quintillion pengo).

Then you could take advantage of the research that found out that ~90% of US currency has traces of cocaine on it.

Or instead, you could take the few dollars you'd spend (waste!) on these and give it to a local soup kitchen or other charity to help make the world a better place.

FYI:

If you're so doubt the US economy you can still protect your treasury note. The US does have a Treasury Inflation Protected security (TIPS) so in 30 years (your call and TIPS is available in 30 years term) you can truck all that money to your chosen warehouses-assuming the US didn't come out with trillion dollar bill in which case you can simply pocket your money.

This is how it work. You'll buy the TIPS today-min $100- and in 30 years you can have the principal and interests back. The principal can be in term of the now value or the then value of the US treasure bill. So if your prediction is true the you would have 10 thousand trillion dollar-which is the equivalent of $100 now plus interested. Interested is accumulated every 6 month.

I know you meant as a joke but the FED has consider this scenario.

single ply or double?
oh, never mind . . . TMI

I want enough to paper a wall with.

Seriously, I want 1000 or so of any 1 Billion or greater denomination to paper a wall with. I'm looking...and will post when I find a reasonable deal. If someone finds such a deal before me please post it for me!

12 zeros have been whacked from this run of the Zimbabwe currency to move to their fourth banknote series. Wow, that's some crazy inflation.

I've heard Zimbabwes carry money in suitcases just to buy some fruits in the market.

I bought one for my daughter, from an eBay seller in the USA, $3 incl postage. She will love it. Thanks for the heads up.

Why so many negative post? Basically only cost a happy meal, but way cooler.

Skipping 29 Messages...

not to go OT, but thanks OP, picked up 20 notes for $17 shipped. Great gift idea!
