Yes it does qualify for Windows 7 upgrade. The processor upgrade costs $100 more. 512MB video card is another $41. The base model does not come with video card

Just a warning regarding HP and the Windows 7 upgrade. I don't know anything about the current US situation/offer but I did run across this relevant item the other day concerning UK people getting the short end of the HP stick regarding Windows 7 upgrades:

HP strikes back on charges for 'free' Windows 7 upgrade It is generally known on tech forums that the 'free' upgrade comes with a catch. The catch is one's gotta pay the S&H. In the US, it seems HP is charging $12.99 as S&H for the Windows 7 upgrade based on various laptop deal posts.

Ah... finally kinda figured out a way to get EPP discount too, pre-CB price is down to 481.99, with 25% CB that would come to 361.49 wow sweet, might pull the trigger, as long as I can be sure EPP and BingCB work together...

Back in Dec 2008, I bought a HP SmartMedia Windows Home server using EPP and bing.com (live.com) CashBack, one day after the purchase I received an email from Microsoft CashBack team indicating 15% CashBack had been process. One month later, I received another email from the team indicating that I was not qualified for the CashBack because of EPP.
You will be taking a big risk expecting they would honor both EPP and CashBack.

Their TOS doesnt say anything about special pricing, it just says about the coupons.
But obviously use it on your own risk and we all know that MSFT CB is not that great; some people rather have 2 mother in laws...
SleekWallet, are you saying that you have bought stuff from HP with EPP and have also recieved the money from Bing CB?
yes

Just for curiosity, for those of you who used EPP, do you or you know someone who works for HP, or there is a way to use EPP without being an HP employee? In my case, I work for HP.

How to register EPP for newers? Is it required that you have to be HP employee to use it?

Most companies that have ties to HP offer an EPP program as well, but may be at a lower discount rate. In my case, my company provides 3rd party services to HP and I receive EPP as a result.
400BadRequest, How much Cash Back are you getting?

Purchased this desktop using EPP and B1ng: Purchase price from HP (with some upgrades) Direct HP unit price:$528.91 BCB as shown in my Bing account:25.00% $132.22 Making my (after BCB) final price: $396.69
BCB status - "PENDING You can request your CashBack reward in 57 days"
As long as I receive BCB, this was a very good deal for me
Looks like the intitial starting price (with EPP) is up to $647.59 (as of 8/26/09 3:55PM ET) so it will be a bit more money if you want in on this deal. You can probably make a decent gaming rig if you snag a Radeon 4780 and a better power supply for this box. If the 4780 will fit...

nop, the EPP price is still the same for me($465). I think it varies depending on your EPP account.

I don't understand how everyone else is using EPP and getting Bing CashBack. Everytime I have placed an order, I get the EPP and Bing CashBack showing pending and after 2 days, it shows as cancelled. I ended up returning the order and then placing again, same thing. I just returned my second order??? Can someone please explain what I am doing wrong and how everyone else is able to do this? Thanks.

Go to bing.com and then serach for HP computers. You should HP official store with bing CashBack for 25% off. Click Bings CashBack . You are good go. I did this morning and already received email with CashBack confirmation.

i am obviously doing something wrong...just tried again, got the same 10% discount showing up. is this a special discount for this one pc that doesn't show itself? apologies for being incompetent here.
400BadRequest said: I just bought it with EPP $481.99. There is no where indicated bing's 25% CashBack, is it normal?
[Update] I saw the rebate on my bing's CashBack account now. 60 days to wait though.
Yeah, I am wondering the same. If I go to the bing, click the 25% link, it states $549, while still logged in, from another tab in my browser it shows the APP (HPA) (Academic Purchase Price) of $481 but I am afraid I will lose the CashBack if I but it that way. What do you think?
Some other questions: 1. Are any of the upgrades necessary for W7? There is earlier mention of upgrading processor and graphics card. I planned on upgrading graphics card anyway b/c I want S-Video. 2. Also, it tells you that you get either one of two printers free, anyway to choose which one? 3. Is the Portable Media worth it?
LocalMotion said: $70 printer check arrived as did the Win7 Upgrade disk.
All done!
Anyone tried installing the upgrade disk on a non HP laptop/desktop as a clean install? I do not have another 64bit CPU non HP laptop/desktop to try it.
Thanks.
Yes. I believe there is a post on a similar SD thread. But if someone here has done it please post any issues/steps. Thanks.
Update: here is the post from SD... x510 said: yeah i just did, just delete both your partitions. Boot from your Cd, it's automatic when you turn on your comp with the upgrade cd in the drive.
