Not sure if this is considered hot but its the only place I know of that has them in-stock right now. They only have the 160 Gig version and this is the second generation G2 model with future trim support. Don't forget the 6% CashBack at Bing.com. Also I see there is a $20 off $200 deal for paying with paypal. Compared to the original old pricing this is a good deal for the latest generation SSD from Intel.

I think that's about the normal price of the (2nd gen) drive now and its on the high end cuz its brand spanking new.

There were issues (some password thingy that i don't many people use) with the first batch that made intel halt/recall shipments and they're slowly getting on the market again. Its one of the best drives you can get right now but I'd wait a little for the SSD wars to settle.

It's hot right now unless you can find it in-stock right now for cheaper. Some people had this drive on order before and had the orders cancelled due to the recall (Like me). Should be able to get this for around $403 plus shipping after the paypal $20 off and 6% bing. If you have to have it and can't wait then it's available now. Obviously all newer products and latest technology always cost a premium. nothing new about that!

It's in stock at 1 place on the internet. Then factor in the paypal deal. This is a hot deal. And a lot of people have been waiting for these to come in stock.

There's no point in waiting more, people were waiting for these drives. If you're going to go with intel, mcl, 160 gig, nothing will change in a month.

Im waiting for the 80GB version to come back in stock. Throw them in Raid0 for my OS for just a little more. I know it's a little more $ for the same amt of storage. True to my history this will be smokin' a$$ fast, and then I will need to buy more new hardware to keep up with my HD...never thought I'd see the day

now shows OOS anyway

LOL- There is no point in waiting. BUY NOW. This model will NEVER be cheaper. Plus, wouldn't you like to be one of the first to find out the G2 firmware still has issues?

If you're willing to pay the price for low supply and high demand, then BUY NOW (OOS, but whatever). Or, wait.

For me, it's still a "hot deal" for those in the first category. I've been waiting to buy this drive for quite a while, and wouldn't bought in time otherwise. Thanks OP.

dcuccia, you are right and thats really what it's all about. The point of the hot deals forums is to get the best possible price on an item RIGHT NOW not a few months from now. Obviously these SSD's are going to drop in price as time goes on but if people think this will drop significantly in price in the next couple of months I think they are mistaken but there will be better prices as more places get them in stock. At these prices they are targeted for the Enthusiast market. I hate it when people make the argument that they can get a 1 Gig hard drive for $70 and this is a waste of money. It's comparing apples to oranges. BTW if you bought this drive from Newegg before and had it cancelled due to the recall, make sure you contact them to get a refund for the shipping. They annotated everyones accounts to make sure the get the same price. The original deal was free shipping but with this deal they are charging for shipping. They already credited my account. My drive has already shipped and has a scheduled delivery of Wednesday. This will be replacing a 150 Gig WD Raptor. Rest of my system is a Asus P6T, I7 920, 6 gigs Corsair memory, Dual GTX 260's in SLI, and Antec 900 case. Can't wait to make the swap. I'm going to use Acronis TI 11.0 to do a disk clone.
