Are these DRM-protected? Can you burn them to a DVD?

Does anyone have any experience with this? What file format? AVI, WMV, etc?

For example, this is the only info I got for Battlestar Galactica PC download:
File Size 2.1 GB
Bitrate 6000 kbps
Aspect Ratio 1.78:1
Audio Channels 5.1

Comment:
I would definitely pay $5 for a season of a particular show. I think this is the best way to reduce pirating.

Excellent questions, guys. I have no experience with them yet... and since I'm not on my own computer right now I can't find out til later. If anyone does have info, we're all ears!

.....Now that I look a bit closer, I'm a little concerned about compatibility. Looks like Macs can only view streaming, a PC is required for download, and their UnBox video player appears to be the required player. Format indicates "Amazon Video on Demand". Srsly, if anyone has info, please share!

Wow, I was getting really excited about this until I saw that downloads are not Mac compatible. Great deal if you can burn it to DVD and/or convert ti to your preferred file format.

I'm digging through my "Unbox Videos" now...
Looks like they're all WMV formatted- which means there's mad DRM up in there.
Doesn't matter so much for me, they stream just fine through my 360.

Thom,
Wanna try these out for us? DRM Removal Tools

Do you have a "unlimited pass" for these movies? Meaning, if I download and my hard drive dies, can I download it agian?

FYI, many of these titles are available through Netflix streaming. No they can't be downloaded, but for $8.99 a month it's all you can eat, plus included DVD rentals too. Not threadcraping, but just pointing out other similar options.

I have TiVo HD - how does this work if I buy it to there, does the whole season download at once (thereby taking up the whole drive?) or is it an episode at a time or something? I'd happily pay $5 to see this Battlestar Gallactica that everyone keeps talking about, just curious how this works.

Yes. No.

Can you download them and then stream using a PS3?

As far as I can tell caprica is a single episode not the season. And you won't get the season when it airs.

I had the same questions. They appear in your library at Amazon and you choose which episodes are pushed to the TiVo. When you're done, you delete off of the TiVo, but you can re-download to your heart's content.

Essentially, it's just a "permanent rental..." for the life of the service. But, if I had to bet on any Internet-based VOD service, I'd bet on Amazon.

It's worth it for Battlestar Galactica alone! FYI, make sure the Season 1 includes the Mini-Series too! If you haven't watched it before, the mini-series is the pilot episode for the series. While "33" is the first episode of Season 1, the mini-series preludes it. Don't spoil yourself by starting with "33"!

i am drunk and this is th best deal i've seen since i started drin king

Its DRM protected.

all Amazon digital downloads are stored in your "digital locker" and are available for you to re-download at any time.

you can stream it using PlayOn (nice if you got in on the 50% off deal a while back), and PlayOn also supports streaming from Hulu and Netflix.

Not available for downloading on Mac or Linux.

Andy Barker P.I. was a fun, short-lived, TV series that's not out on DVD yet, so this might be a good way to get that show.

BTW, I'm curious as to whether any of these include any bonus features (deleted scenes, bloopers, interviews, games, cast/crew commentaries, etc.). Can anyone comment on this?

Amazon has the mini-series for $12.59 or the like. I was thinking if I do the season 1 for $5 I might have to shell out for the mini-series--a friend told it's crucial (I believe that was the actual word he used).

This will go nicely with the 5 dollar promo credits Amazon gives out for buying a Wii game.

Go rent the miniseries. It completely sets up season 1 (especially if you saw the original series as there are quite a few differences in story line).

are you sure? I've been trying to and finally ran into this...

Can I download another copy of my MP3 files after the initial purchase?

Your Amazon MP3 Music purchases can only be downloaded once. After you have successfully downloaded the file to your computer at the time of purchase, we recommend that you create a backup copy. We are currently unable to replace any purchased files that you delete or lose due to a system or disk error. If you encounter a problem with an MP3 file immediately after purchase, please click the Customer Service button in the Contact Us box in the right-hand column of this page so we can determine how to help you.

FYI: The Office season 1 has only five episodes. I may get them in the future, but that's not as good a deal as, say, Saved by the Bell with 20 episodes, if, say, you really liked Kelly Kapowski.

any more info on this?

I wish there were something there I wanted - I would love to see how well their VOD works with my PlayOn to PS3 setup.

so basically you need UnBox to watch the movies offline?

I assume playing this on Popcorn Hour or WD HD media player is out of the question?
