Picked up two new factory sealed Bosch Tassimo Suprema hot drink makers (in red) at Sears here in VT today for $43.97 each. They were on clearance, down from $169.99 each. I'm sure clearance items vary by market, but if you are in the market for one of these, check your local Sears clearance aisle. You can't beat that price.
On the plus side, there are many businesses vested in the production of T discs, and one can easily get them for reasonable prices. So if you can find one of these for OP's price, go for it.
Side note: Prior to a couple of years ago, these exact machines were branded under either the KRUPS name, or the BRAUN name (I forget, even though I bought 3 as gifts. I don't drink coffee myself.). Just before/during the name-change, they were discounted upto 90%, with 75% being more common. I suspect either a brand-name change again, or more likely, a discontinuation of the red color.
Minjin said: Which one is winning? K cup or T disc? Unfortunately, I bet wrong with the senseo. Wondering if I should bet again.
Thought I bet wrong also. Then I started making my own pods by just using a 4 cup filter and two Tbs of coffee. Tastes better to me and still makes the frothy top.
can someone who uses these comment on how good they are? I'm a coffee person, I use a Technivorm at home and a Bunn at work, and I grind my own each time. I tried a Senseo machine a few years back, and it was dreadful, worse than a $10 drip machine brewing Chock Full O Nuts (which isn't a bad coffee at all if you catch it fresh)
The thing that got me is the meager amount of coffee grounds these things contained in their pods, how could you ever get enough flavor out of about a tablespoon of coffee, if that? And with a pressure brew at that! You need more coffee in that case, not less.
These things are money/effort-savers if you are a Starbucks frequenter. To save more while getting better quality, stay with the Bunn and such. For the little extra effort, your palate will thank you.

Is that sweet?? Hmmm, I still want to wait till BF, hope there will be sale out there~
We bought one at Lowes when they were on clearance and absolutely love it. If it broke, I would buy another at full price that day. If you drink a lot of coffee it probably won't replace your coffee pot, but it is very nice for when you want a good specialty coffee.
BTW, We also had the Kuerig machine and this one is light years ahead of that one. It is smaller, quieter and the coffee's are better(Starbucks and the European Latte's). The best place to buy the starbucks disks is at Target. They are 12 for around $7. The machine uses a Bar code on the pod to know how much water and how hot to make it so the coffee is exactly the same every time and exactly like the brewer wants it to be. The addition of being able to use real milk pods is what sets it apart. The latte's are fantastic. My kids love the Milka chocolate milk.

Senseo makes the worst coffee, no matter how good the pods are that you use. I have a Grindmaster OPOD that I picked up for $125 at a Tuesday Morning shop and it makes a great cup as long as you use good coffee. I usually get my pods in large quantity from Coffee4Less.com when I have a code.

I so disagree about the Senseo...The coffee is good. You maybe didn't keep your parts clean. I also have a Tassimo and it is a better machine, easier to maintain, less noisy (not a big deal) good coffee = but i don't really see that much of a difference. Oh...the Senseo is much less costly for the coffee and much more environmentally friendly.

If you enjoy paying more than $20/lb for average (or below average) coffee, I suppose machines like the Tassimo and Senseo are a good deal. I stick to buying whole beans though - better selection and no impact on the environment (or if you prefer, help the environment by using the grounds as mulch!).
