Just saw a commercial for comcast triple play for 79.85 a month, and they state this deal is for current or non current customers.

For how long? 3 month? 6 month?

They said on the commercial until you cancel, I took it as forever.

ok i'll take a shot at it...

If so, this is a great price. My brother signed up a while ago, it was 99.99.

ok so it seems like the deal is legit. However it's a very minimal package. 1MB internet, local phone, pretty basic cable (i forgot what it was called, but it sounded very minimal)

Interesting concept. Crippled services for considerably cheaper.

Its the basic version of each of the services. Probably still a good deal, but its not the higher end stuff that used to be 99.99

the local + more package for the phone is pretty bad. It's unlimited calling within a 15 mile radius, and 5 cents per minute anywhere else in the nation.

I signed up for the $99 triple play a few weeks ago, I got the bill yesterday and it's $250. ~$150 for the 1.5 month they're billing, but they charged me $100 installation. Called them today and they'll "look into it." Nice.

Comcast can stick it. I have had nothing but problems. Called them out to check why my signal was poor and ofcourse it was working fine when they got here. They come back 2 days later and still nothing wrong. when they leave it goes to crap. I even had programs recordered on the DVR to show them but with out it happening while they are there they do not know the problem. I then get a bill 2 days ago and the bastards charged me 29 bucks to come out. WTF?>!?!? I called and they said they had sent out notices and if I wanted I could get wire maintenance for 3 bucks a month. Told them come get the DVR and reduce my cable to basic with internet. I am done. If bellsouth/att was any better I would go with them but the speeds do not compare. This company truley sucks!

customer service is sh!t across the board with dsl, fios and cable. the cheapest deal i've found is to switch providers about every 2 yrs.

It's Craptastic!

the service:

"You will receive Digital Starter however it will not include: sports channels, On Demand, MTV, Bravo, Sci-Fi, VH1, TNT, or Nickelodeon. The phone will have no long distance calling, and the you will only have DSL internet with a top speed of 1MB. There is no term for the bundle and the customer will perpetually receive this rate. This is an on-going promotion."

Lopping 20% off the bill and 60% off the service doesn't sound like a good deal to me... this package should be $40-50. Then it would be a deal, imho. Too bad thats not how giant companies work... you really don't get what you pay for anymore. It makes me sad.

I'm not a fan of Comcast but you really think having phone, high speed internet, and cable TV for $80 is a ripoff? I used to pay $40 for local phone service (only), $20 for dialup internet, and $40 for basic cable. Reminds me of the comedian that says how spoiled we are in this country...complaining that the internet speeds on the plane aren't that fast. LOL.

P.S. I typed this at 30,000 feet while on a plane.

I remember when unlimited minute national cell phone plans were $199 - now they're $39.99

We signed up for the double play a few weeks ago, got our second bill in the mail yesterday and it was $235! We, too, were charged the $99.99 internet installation (that I did MYSELF) fee on top of a duplicate $28.95 cable installation fee. And a "change of service" fee for $1.99 on 7/23...WTF? We had everything installed on 7/20 and changed NOTHING. I called first thing this morning and spoke with "Katrina." I was surprised, ready to throw a fit about the bogus charges, but she was quite understanding. We had all sorts of problems, including charges from the bill we paid last month! She went through the bill by herself and knocked it down to less than $75.

Maybe it should be called Comcast Criple Play

if there are alternatives in your area you are better off creating your own deal. I have DIrectv, FIOS and Comcast and have found that competition does work.

Competition always forces Comcast to dramatically lower their rates in local markets.

This is why Comcast works very, very hard to bribe your local municipalities to give it a no-compete, consumers have no choice, contract.

1mb internet?

isn't it 2009 now?

Would have been much cooler if you typed that at 30,000 ft while on the summit of Everest (29,028 ft to be exact). Just saying.
