I have been using various Norelco rotary shavers for the past 15+ years, but decided to try this razor since its gotten very good user reviews. I've had it a few days and it does a great job with my reasonably rough beard. Doesnt require going over the same spot nearly as much as the Norelcos did. I highly recommend it.
i have the black version of this razor it sucks, it cant get short hairs under the nose in the moustache area
i preferred my older razor, a little more raw, but atleast it got the hairs
now i have a problem with the red status light always coming on when i clean it i have to ship it back and they told me it will take 2-3 weeks for them to get me a new one ...they have no local depots so i gotta send it from NJ to CA. and they dont do any cross ships w/ CC.
They expect me to use a regular razor in the interim?

I guess there's always a few defective ones in the bunch. As for missing spots, I checked my face after shaving and it got everything clean; under the nose and especially under the chin along the neck, something I never was able to get done very well with the supposedly flexing rotary heads of the Norelco. Of course everyone's face is different so YMMV on a foil shaver vs. rotary. Anyway, this razor worked well for me.
I got the Panasonic ES7103 shaver after my old electric broke. I (being the dork that I am) spent many hours researching reviews on electrics and pulled the trigger on the Panasonic and couldn't be happier. I get as close of a shave as a razor blade and it is waterproof so clean up is very easy (shave in the shower and just rinse then dry). Yeah, it leaves certain areas a little (barely) rougher (right under my jawline) but everywhere else is amazingly close. Overall much better than the old rotary I was using. It took about a week to get used to but it is perfectly comfortable now. I ended up getting it from Amazon for $45 here: amazon link which was cheaper from another Amazon vendor that shows up as the first link from a search: more expensive. Battery lasts about 9 days of shaving.
Not the exact same product as the OP but relevant opinion I think.
I have the ES8249 (basically the same thing, just without the station) and it's pretty great, but it doesn't get as close as my Mach 3. I hated the process involved with using a razor (the prep work and the shaving cream) and I find the ES8249 to be good enough for those days I don't need a baby smooth face. I use it on a dry face and it's pretty quick and painless.
I tried using it wet while at the sink and I start getting this "dirty" water being smeared on my face because of the hairs mixing with the water. It wouldn't be a problem if I were in the shower, but I don't have a mirror in there. Also, when shaving at the sink I get little hairs on my shirt. It could be how I'm holding the razor though, because I turn it to all angles trying to get as close to the contours on my face as I can.

Pretty good deal considering it's their top of the line model, without the cleaning base. One should consider the cost for the replacement blades/foil which go for about half the cost of the shaver itself, $55 on same site.
