Can anyone comment on how "hackable" this particular model is? I've been told hacked PSPs make great retro emulator systems but I have never owned one so I don't have much background in this area. Thanks!

I am new to this also, but from what I have read is that it depends on the serial number range. I ordered one of these and if it is not hackable, I am going to return it.swinte said: Can anyone comment on how "hackable" this particular model is? I believe it is hackable if the system version is no higher than 5.03. I had a success with one from Dell two months ago.

It is a open boxed returned item. Maybe it is returned because it's not hackable.
This site has some great tutorials, downloads and just about everything you need to know to hack your PSP slim. Almost all current PSP 2000 are only partially hackable in that the ROM cannot be flashed so when fully powered down the firmware reverts to factory original. If you keep the PSP on standby and charged the custom firmware can stay on indefinitely. The slim can be easily hacked without the need for pandora battery or hardware modification so no effect on the warranty. Custom firmware can run homebrew, iso from memory stick and lots of emulators.

so long as the S/N is NOT starting with AB02, it can be firmware hackable. Otherwise, you have to use the ChickHEN hacks and it has to be done everytime when you reboot the machine.
Mine is AB02 so it looks like it's unhackable and getting returned.
