Office Max just lowered the clearance price down to $275 on Monday here. Online price for a refurb is $550 so a 50% drop.
This seems to be better than the Wal-Mart deal because of the dual-core processor. This is a package deal with 19 inch LCD monitor too.

the price of $265 is after a $10 off coupon from Payless Shoes was used.

Specs are:

Powered by an AMD Athlon X2 4450e+ Dual-Core Processor, genuine Windows Vista Home Premium, 3GB system memory, 500GB hard drive, SuperMulti DVD burner with LightScribe, 19" diagonal monitor, 1-year limited warranty
Windows 7 Upgrade Offer

People are playing their cards close to the vest, at least at Mize.com, regarding the Compaq Presario SR5712F-B Desktop PC Bundle. Must be a Maine-based website.

So you wait to post it 3 days after you notice it? Surely most of them would be gone by now.

Went to my local OM (FL) - was thrilled to see one on display with a sealed box lying under it.

Picked up the sealed box, only to realize it was empty (apparently it was the box for the display). Noticed a tag fallen on the flear, nearby, stating 'CLEARANCE' $549 - $49 off = $500.

Tried my luck with the manager who said it was OS but she'd sell me the display for 10% off the $500. I mentioned some BS about it being $275 'online'. She said online prices were different. She did scan the store tag for me (I was hoping it would ring up at $275) and it did ring up at $500.

I left empty handed.

OP, can you post a scan of the receipt?

Went to the local OM in Madison, WI tonight. The Compaq mentioned was nowhere in the store so YMMV on this one for sure. Checked out the BB next door and they had the same setup (no bundle price, just seperate). The BB Compaq tower was marked at $258 and the monitor at $109. The monitor looked nice in person. The tower however was cheap to the feel and was definitely barebones from the looks of the back of it. Oh well.

Rule #1: Don't call.

so i called my local store (walnut creek, ca). they don't have it and don't carry any refurbs. i told him i have a 'buddy' who bought this at his local store and was nice enough to scan me the receipt so i can hop on the deal. he said he couldn't do anything but that i should call omax and they should match their own store. so i did, and it's a no-go. the woman said the local store itself would have to call up in order for them to match, and they won't match off a receipt that they can't see (and she didn't offer up an email addy or a fax number for me to send the receipt). so i guess i'm stumped here, don't know of a way i can take advantage of this killer deal. op you might be the only one able to take adavantage of this...if anyone has any other ideas let us know.

i can see your point, but in this case it didn't matter as they don't carry any refurbs, and said no stores in the local region carry any refurbs. so i had to deal with omax itself which didn't pan out. short of flying to utah, i don't see any options here.

Hey guy's, it sounds like you think the one I got in store is a refurb. It's not. the ones in store are new in box. I used the one online that is a refurb, as an example as to what kind of deal it was price wise. Sorry if I was unclear.

maybe i will run over to my omax and find out if they have a new one, taking your receipt just in case. thx for the clarification.

None in Florida. Took receipt to OM and they said its a discontinued model and there are none left in Florida. Hope someone gets another one. Would have been nice. Thanks for the scan.

Would it be worth it to get a floor model for this price? I'm not sure how to feel about the cpu and monitor having hours and hours of use.

ETA. Has ANYONE besides the OP been able to get this price? If so, how'd you do it? (PM at OM with OP's receipt?)
