These headphones have very good sound for the price. I own 3 pairs of these and a pair of Shures. 9 times out of 10 I use these because they have great sound, and are by far the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. Compared to my shures these things easily fit in your pocket and weight almost nothing. For this price I couldn't recommend a better pair of headphones. Just my two cents .

Another advantage of Amazon over JR is that you get a $5 credit for downloads.
But if you dont have prime, you have to pay shipping or buy $25 worth of stuff to get free shipping, so why is this better (if you don't have prime)it will cost $21.43 from Amazon versus $17 from J&R (assuming you dont pay tax at J&R) so your just buying $5 worth of songs basically and saving maybe 50 cents ?
Just buy 2. You're probably going to lose one of them eventually. Of if you really are enough of a music fan to need new headphones, buy a new CD you were going to get anyway.

then you would buy the CX-400-B which sound just a little better, and/or a set of COMPLY foam tips, which make them into (IMO) the best Hifi earpiece ever made

I do have Prime, so I wasn't thinking about having to spend $25. I resisted for awhile after a trial, but I have to say the service is great. I've always received my orders within the two day time frame. The convenience can't be beat and before I had Prime I wasted time and money trying to get to $25. Without Prime, I agree that buying from J&R might be a better way to go.
The sound is good, but just don't move around... if the cable rubs up against something, the vibrations transmit into the ear as noise. They pop out my ears quite easily, too.

I have 3 pairs of these. One cheap china knockoff, a creative branded one, and an authentic one. All of them sound good (the china knockoff isn't as good but it still isn't that bad either). They all stay in my ears just fine and won't come out easily. Although when my dad tries to wear them, he can never seem to get them to fit in just right no matter what size insert is on the headphones. I think some people just have differently sized/shaped ears. I do have to agree with the fact that you can hear the sound of the cord bouncing off of your clothes through the headphones. Must resist getting another pair!!

The COMPLY foam tips solve both problems, although they are expensive to buy (use them to get the purchase over $25 ) I have put these foam tips on all my SHARP and SENNHEISER earplugs. The foam tip makes a really good earplug into a superb one. But you have to wash them, they do get dirty. .
Hmmmm. I bought my daughter a pair of inexpensive Skull Candy headphones from Amazon. She tried them a couple of times and suggested I return them because of the noise being transferred through the cord when it was 'jostled' or rubbed against her clothing. We've tried many different headphones and never experienced that before. I checked the reviews in more detail after she reported the problem and found that a fair number of people had reported this as a 'con'. Anyway, she considered them basically unusable for that reason. And now I see the same thing reported about these headphones.
My question is this: If these headphones are picking up noise whenever the cords are moving or rubbing against clothing, how can the be considered great headphones? Is everyone just fine with always staying still when listening to music? Or do you consider this 'extra' noise to be okay? Or is the noise problem exagerated? Or what?!
I'm very confused. Would love to get some but don't want to have to return them like the Skull Candy... HELP!
Amazon price is now $15.76. Don't know why the price is bouncing around so much. Sometimes that happens when they are nearly out of stock.
Regarding wire noise, I have been using this brand and model for years and have never experienced that problem. Sometimes I carry my MP3 player in my pants pocket, sometimes in my backpack, sometimes in my jacket. I walk for miles at a time with the headphones in my ears (don't run/jog though). Never any problem.

Great headphones. Had 3 pair in the family, better highs and mids than the comparable Sony. Picked another as backup. $5 for MP3 sweetens the deal.

Depends on what you call "Great headphones", but even some of the most expensive headphones sometimes have issues with microphonics from the wire. It's a function of the relatively stiff, thin cable that these headphones use--they catch easy on anything and you can hear the sound they make. I never had an issue with microphonics on Shure (e2c) and Ultimate Ears (Super.fi 5 Pro) headphones I've owned; they use thicker cables that don't transmit outside noise. Of course, you're talking about a significantly more expensive headphone. I'm sure there are cheaper alternatives out there, but I don't know of any personally.
I have the CX300's myself, and the microphonics are quite bad. But I don't use them for working out or anything like that, so I've learned to live with it.
I just got mine yesterday. The clamshell package these comes in were probably the most challenging clamshell packaging I've ever tried to open. I hate those things. The headphones themselves are ok... I'm a little disappointed. I bought these to retire my 8yr old Sony Fontopia (EX71), but I don't like these quite as much =(
I guess these don't seem to have a very strong bass... at all. And more distortion compared to the fontopia. Oh well, it was cheap.
These are Hifi earphones. They will sound better if you feed them a better signal, better MP3, while the Fontopia will remain muddy and "ok" regardless of what you send to them. I have been using these earplugs for over a decade, since SHARP was OEMing them rather than Sennheiser. They are equal to the best headphones I have ever used. And that includes the Sony Z600 professional cans. But you will only notice the improvement when you feed them better quality sound... Try plugging them into a high quality camcorder, or a recorder with decent microphones, and see what they sound like

Price is currently at $15.42 and sold via Amazon by HDMIKing with free shipping (no need to meet a $25 minimum anymore).
I have a question for those who use these ear bud style of headphones. I've never tried them - and have only used the big over the ear headphones - or cheapo foam covered headphones in the recent years.
I need a pair of headphones for my Sansa Fuze ( lost the original set before I used the player ) and am hesitant to purchase an earbud style b/c I don't have a clue if they will feel like in my ears. Are bud style
* comfortable to wear - short term or extended periods ? * How do they sound? * will they fall out?
Can anybody who has worn earbuds ( of any brand ) give some kindof illustrative description of what they feel like in your ears when your'e wearin em? Should I go for earbuds - or look for something else.

Thanks Generally earbud headphones with silicon ear pieces (including these) come with 3 different sizes: small, medium, and large. The best thing to do is as soon as you get them, try out the different sizes and see which ones fit your ear the best. Once you find the ones that fit well, they're very comfortable to wear, short or long term, they shouldn't fall out, and they sound great (a good snug fit helps block out outside noise). I especially like these earbud types because my ears get too hot with those over the ear type headphones if I have them on too long. I've heard of a few people say they're "in between sizes" but for most people, one of the 3 sizes should work well.
I think these would go great with the fuze - I'm using this CX300 with my Sansa E280 and I love it. Very portable and sounds quality is decent.
I can wear earbuds all day. They are more comfortable to me than any other type of headphones and they never fall out. Also, the reduce background more than other types of small headphones. Comfort is a personal thing, but for $15 you can experiment a little.

Yeah - my big over ear headphones can get a bit warm over time - if the room I"m in is not cool to begin with. I can definitely relate to that.

Good point.
I went ahead and bought a set. Hope I like em. If I'm out 15 bucks it won't be the end of the world - but I don't want to keep throwin 15 bucks down the toilet to find a headset that works for me.
Hopefully these will be to my liking. If not - it's all your fault... LOL
I just got mine in the mail today. Sound very nice for the price. Almost as good as my over the ear phones. Buds took a little bit to get used to - but after a while I didn't notice they were in my ears.
These buds also give ya a bit more volume on the MP3 player - than normal headphones.

Thanks OP, this is a great deal...I have the 400's and they're great. I think I use the medium size tips which fit great, and I can wear them all day no problem. My one complaint with the 400's is the stupid short cable w/extension. Unless you wear an armband then the short cable is useless (unless you're a midget?), and the bulky mid cable connection adds weight so that it's always pulling and is right at my waist/belt so it snags up a lot. Worst-idea-ever.
