Great prices on quality off the rack suits but the size selection is very limited. This is the only suit that I found available in a variety of sizes and colors: http://www.BrooksBrothers.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Merchant_Id=1&Section_Id=575&Product_Id=1210034&Parent_Id=418&default_color=Black

If you need a couple of less expensive suits you can rush over to the Jos A Bank website and see if you can still pick up a couple of their low end suits for $298 ($199 + $99). They're not at the same level as a Brooks Bros or Hickey Freeman but they're better than what you'd get at a Mens Warehouse.

Purchasing from the Suiting Essential section on Brooks Brothers will also yield you a sub $300 suit, even less if you use the 15% coupon.

Comes out to 254.15 for suit and jacket for either brooksease or suiting essentials.
These two lines are the same suit except suiting essentials is a little trimmer cut and has slightly less synthetic material.
BTW: free basic pants alteration included and hassle-free returns. (even with alterations) wutsdadealio said: ratracer said: gan911 said: so instead of it costing an arm and a leg, its just now a leg? not bad i guess....

Gonna head over to the store after work today. Could use a nice pair of slacks for $90, especially if that includes alterations. I know it says online that it does, but does anyone know if they do free alterations in-store as well? Getting the legs hemmed and the waist let out (I'm always between sizes) probably would run $25+. I'd prefer not to have the alterations done on an online order (seems a bit absurd--altering clothes to my body without having ever tried the pants on!).

According to the BB cs you can buy online and have fitted in store free. Makes sense since its either that or you return it.

I finally talked myself into buying this, only then to find out that none of the ones I like are in my size.

I dropped by one store (Lincoln Center in NYC), only to find that they didn't sell the Suiting Essentials line there. So I went to the flagship store at 44th and Madison. The stuff was unimpressive and the store staff unfriendly, so I left. Oh well.

Madison store is full of stuffy pricks who give horrible advice. They cost me more than $300 in alterations after they sold me a bad suit and then screwed up *THREE* times in fixing it. Their only offer? Return the suits for full refund, but f-off with the $300.
Screw Brooks Brothers, they were a place of quality, now they are purveyors of expensive, but poorly valued clothing, and very poor service.

Agreed, pier. Unfortunately, it appears that there are few quality options left for men's clothing these days. For casual wear, the quality of stuff from GAP and Banana Republic have gone way downhill (and the latter is extremely overpriced). H&M makes a lot of stuff that looks good, but is of poor quality (although is priced appropriately). Express quality has gone way down, and a lot of their stuff doesn't look very good. As for nicer stuff, Men's Wearhouse is obviously not worth considering, Jos. A. Bank styles are ridiculous for anyone under 55, and now we've heard about Brooks Brothers.
Well, guess I'm off to Macy's for the Labor Day sale.

There are other options, Charles Tyrwhitt, TM Lewin, among many others.

I ordered a suit unaltered and it came in 2 days-- I too called their CS and they told me free instore alterations-- I went to the store and had them work up the suit and they told me it would be $24.... What a joke! I told them online told me it would be free and they said they'd have to chat with the manager-- When I go back to pick this up Im hoping they change their mind-- I hate arguing over $24 at a fancy schmancy store!
Update- The store didnt end up charging me for the alterations!
