Does anybody else besides me have trouble with these? I have one in each of my PCs and even on dual-boot PCs some are flakier than others. I sometimes have to run around to different PCs to get them to work.
Just in general, not this specific model. But I have the issues on a dual-boot PC with both Vista and XP.

I had one of those chinese eBay specials. It read cards exactly twice before it gave up the ghost. Tried it in a different computer w/ different OS to see if maybe it was just flakey or something, but turned out to be dead as a doornail. You get what you pay for.

I have had problems with card readers of all kinds, both internal and external. Sometimes they stop working for awhile and then, voila, they work again. Sometimes only with specific cards and othertimes they die completely. I have found that I just have to have alot of them available.
I've purchased 30 of the eBay models. Internally, it's the same as the rosewill, but with a plastic instead of metal case. I regularly have to drill extra holes into the plastic shell to get them to fit flush with the computer cases I buy, but it's a minor inconvenience. I've never had one go out, but I have had a few computers not detect it as USB 2.0. One of the thirty arrived with a fully cracked plastic shell; I took that opportunity to compare it to the more expensive units.

So, do these eBay readers support sdhc? I left a question on eBay, but so far no reply.
I have a similar model from Rosewill. It only read SD cards a few times before quitting. I'm still looking for a good 5 1/4 version with more ports to replace it.

Jinbstore! I've bought quite a few stuff from him (assuming it's a "him") including this internal flash memory drive. I'm happy to see others have found him, too.

What type of connector it uses to connect to the motherboard?

All items have arrived perfectly, so I don't know how the seller is on refunds/returns, etc. He just had the cheapest price today. This is one of those items where I'm like, do I want to pay Rosewill to import this Chinese reader for me and stick it in a metal shell, or do I want to do it myself and save a few bucks? If there were a Made in USA alternative, I'd spend 10x more just to get it!

USB to the Motherboard USB header (most newer motherboards have one specifically for this purpose).
From the pix, it does look like a 4-pin USB motherboard header. Damn - I have a Dell GX280 and they don't have USB headers on the mobo.

Tips for buying a card reader:
1. If it doesn't specify SDHC support, assume is doesn't. 2. Transfer rate is important. Good readers will have a max rate of 17Mbytes/sec. Most cheap readers are lucky to get half that.

I totally agree! Somehow this eBay guy is selling the USB card reader cheaper than when I bought it personally while I was in Hong Kong for transit...though the one I have also come with an SATA port. It has been two years and it is still going strong...though I do realize that this kind of internal USB reader is very dependent on the power of your MTB's USB header as it works well on some MTB (e.g. ASRock 4coredual series)but not other (e.g. Gigabyte P35-DS3L).

Every time I've seen a deal is posted for a xx in 1 reader, they always have problems (just like USB->IDE harddrive adapters). Are there any more expensive ones that don't?

Ok, the only specs I see most places are giving USB2.0 specs, not max rates. Any recommendations?
