I am fairly certain however that this unit has no sort of brush system underneath to move the carpet fibers around and loosen any dirt. Basically the water is going into the carpet and then is being suctioned out. The power roller helps absorb the water but that's about it.
Underwhelming AT BEST. If you are really looking for a carpet cleaner read this first. Hoover for 170 or Bissell Pro Heat 2X at Costco seem much better value for money

Pro-dry is for "refreshing" carpets --- not deep cleaning/stain removal. If you want a steam cleaner, buy a Bissell , but don't buy that one....interestingly, at least one of the reviews on Amazon mentioned it working great on hard flooring. Might be a good deal in that regard?

You can try using the high traffic carpet cleaners. It's been proven effective. HTCC
