Not sure if this is good deal or not but would be great for someone looking for a motorized HDTV antenna.

OutDoorAntenna

Thanks for ridn4free's find. Apply coupon code dealnews09a will take $4 off.

this looks great! motorized roof mount antenna would be ideal for locking those signals in. wonder how the IR remote moves the antenna and if its something that could be programmed via macro into a harmony..... anyone with firsthand experience?

Interesting... anybody have any input on these? I can't seem to find any reviews...

cool Just jumped in for 1

Not sure if this is a hype or not. 100+ mile antenna seems too good to be true. Any real experience using this Antenna?

it looks like the antenna manufacturer wrote all of those "reviews"... without proper testing, i'd be cautious about spending money on this item.

the only reason that you'd need a rotating antenna in the first place is if your house is located between broadcast towers... go over to www.tvfool.com, and plot it out.

I find it ironic that about ten years ago I tore down my big antenna and rotor because it was outdated and we finally got cable tv. Now I am considering dropping cable and putting another antenna on my house.......

Same here. Cable charge is getting ridiculous. If this works well, it can save us hundreds each year.

Heh, I'm in a condo and I'm not sure where the cable line is coming in. I only have cable internet, which uses the same coax lines that go to my walls for tv. I'm trying to figure out if there's a way to splice in from the main line and get my Eagle Aspen antenna attached. Ughhh... seems like a bunch of trouble though.

Google it and you see the same antenna for 39.95 plus shipping.

Do you mind telling us the link? Thanks.

the picture quality from over-the-air broadcasting is better than anything you'll be able to get with cable or satellite... plus, it's free.

the downside is that the channel selection is rather limited, as compared to cable.

however, with websites like hulu.com, you can watch some of those cable shows for free... burn notice, for instance.

If it is true 100 miles I am in San Diego can received most of the channel from LA. Anyone did a reserve or have one of this to give out comment?

Yes, most stations broadcast locally uncompressed or with little compression. You will not find this over satellite/cable, except for maybe premium channels like HBO.

On top of that, if building a Windows 7 HTPC with dual tuner card connected to this Antenna to catch clear QAM HDTV channels, with auto update of EPG through Media Server, the HTPC would be a perfect HDTV DVR with no monthly cable TV fee.

I just checked out the return policy with them via chat and there isn't one. All sales are final unless it hasn't been opened or is defective. Careful!

this was posted on deal news use code dealnews09a for 4 dollars off. its being discussed in avsforums I would wait the day and see what becomes of it. at this point I have tried several and never heard of these so I am leary

RE:

There is a motor at the antenna.

Not to TC but for 1/2 the price (no rotor though) Monoprice has a fantastic little powered antenna that works incredible. I have a home in Texas that is 60 miles from Austin and it pulls in all the major broadcast stations with a 70+ signal.

If OP's antenna does in fact work as advertised though it is a pretty hot deal for one with a rotor.

Similar on eBay, and they all would be returnable.

I purchased the RCA ANT1650 omni-directional indoor ant from Amazon last week. I am hoping it will work out well. I tried a philips amplified internal antenna from target which picked up a lot of signals, but needed adjustments to switch back and forth between a few set of channels. Reading up on this RCA seems to tell me I might be alright since it is omni. If not, I need to figure out how to set up the outdoor ones.. This one looks good, but I have two directions for signals (using www.antennaweb.com).. about 25 degrees apart and while surfing channels, I am sensing that this motor operation won't be a fun thing. Is it really that when I change a channel.. now use the IR remote for the motor to see that channel.. oops I want to go back to the previous channel.. redo it each time.. Is it this bad? Are there any multi-directional or omni-directional antennas as cheap as these one.. around $50 ish?

In the olden days, you could have 2 antennas with a combiner, maybe not with digital.
Anyone know?

I have one of these. It is almost useless as a rotating antenna. You never know which direction it is rotating when you use the remote, and the rotation is so fast that you cannot zero in on a station.

ME TOO! (Ugh!)

outdoor motorized ant are the best for HDTV. The problem here in PA is that between the large hills and mountains, the stations are at different compass points. you almost NEED to move the ant to get great signal. Having said that OTA HDTV is the best I have seen on my tv next to BD.

I have that one as well, it was on sale a week or two ago for 17.
It does a GREAT job, much better than the rca amplified one i had before.

Many reviewers say it works great in the attic, I never tried. I stuck it on a 10' pole from the hardware store and mounted to the side of my house. Took about 20 minutes to find the 'sweet spot' and then bolted it down. Pulls in a bunch of channels, I'm getting about 20 or so and this is from 60 miles away!

Thanks OP.

@jplee3:
Hook the coax to your TV if it has a clear QAM tuner (most recent HDTV's have it) and do a channel scan. You will probably get the digital HD locals through the wire even though you only pay for cable internet.

thanks alot. i'm about 60 miles away from any towers, and i have alot of trees and hills that obstructs reception. but hooking this on a pole on the side of my house may be a better idea.

Seriously? Is that illegal though? Or is it OTA?

I smell a crap sandwich. It looks like junk, and from the extensive reading I did in looking up the best designs for TV antennas it looks nothing like any of the performers.

Customer Review
One thing that made them so great was the graphics. The graphics were so lifelike that I felt as if I were actually in the game

I thinks I'm sticking with this design type: DB2 Clone @ Buy.com

I'm shipping the last of my Direct TV boxes back in about 15 minutes. They would never raise our bill but would turn off a few channels every now and then. It got to where I was only watching one or two channels. Bump them!!

My antenna is still up and I just have to hook it up. I'm going to see how it works before I spend money on some hi-tech one. If I get another one, I want to see some reviews before committing.

These are junk antennas. More style and less functionality. Good luck getting much of anything off of it unless you live next to your station.

How many channels can you guys get on AIR? I pay a lot for cable... curious if I would get the channels I watch with AIR

I have been active in the San Diego OTA scene, this design is a gimic, you are better off using a UHF 4 bay (or 8 Bay if you have the space) on a pole OUTSIDE your roof. LA is actually easy to pickup in Carlsbad with nothing but an indoor RCA antenna (living on top of a hill at the coast helps too).

Here is a site with all the San Diego HDTV Antenna info you could ever want:
