actually the one on the left doesnt look that bad

hey, It's better advertising than this. Also, who says you have to spend hours and hours hosting the party. Once windows 7 install is complete and people clap, it's time to have a lan party imho.

Greattt! I'll be there! With my Friend Al!

Yeah, MSFT has some nice incentives for you to host, prizes, etc...

The hardest part is getting your friends to come without having them know it's a Windows 7 Party.

Fyi this is on Tomshardware, so the chances of us hosting it will be slim now

A LAN party would work

I was thinking about the one with the skirt :S but whatever floats your boat

When I first got the invite e-mail for this I figured there would be a decent chance to get selected. But now that I see applications are open for about a month and it's all over the internet, I'm not so sure.

It says right in the terms of service you can have alcohol. And at a lot of my parties people play with my computer and find trippy images and other f'ed stuff to play with...

Already have 2 Dj's who will attend if I am picked (we had alot of liquor in us when we all filled out the forms last night so probably wont get picked) and finding a bunch of people to come party and spend 30 min (easily done) looking at cool images and the slickness of win7 or even some gaming... Not hard and a lot of fun (unless u r lame) + free stuff involved.

To that, I say this. It "costs" microsoft very little money to give you a disk, key, and have you do free promotion for them. I'd say there's a fair chance that many of us will be selected.

You'd probably want to make sure you put Firefox or install some kind of anti-malware thing beforehand. Or just wipe and reinstall after the party... could end up with a really messed up system using IE when you're drunk

how would they know if you've actually hosted a party or not?

It's in the fine printing: you have to send them drinking/potting/nude-posing pics with date.

Wow. "Parties" sponsored by major corporations. I can see the bright future now! Corporate sponsored weddings, picnic for 2, Christmas dinners and birthdays!

"......you may kiss the bride. And now please have a seat and welcome our sponsor D&D Lawfirm!" (catchy jingle played on the church organ) "If anything goes wrong with this wedding, don't forget that D&D is there by your side 24/7 to help you through tough marriage times with a divorce threat and child custody hearings. Nothing says love quite like a lawyer breathing down your neck with court papers!"

"Honey, this was such a great idea, setting up a picnic for 2 on our 10th anniversary in this beautiful park. You're so romantic!" "Anything for you, doll-face. You know my love for you is deeper than the ocean and goes further than Alpha Centauri. And by the way.......did you know that Tums has 100% of the daily requirements of calcium? Why take anything else for your ulcer when you can take Tums and strenghten your bones! Let's give it up for our sponsor who made this luxurious picnic for 2 possible!!! Wooooooooooooooooooo!!!!" (claps)

Oh and any idea how Microsoft will keep track of parties? I would be interested to know if a rep from MS will be there to oversee the party, in case the fever of MS Windows ME II SP7 excited the attendees a bit too much, or more likely that the party ended as soon as I passed out the free software. Cause I wouldn't mind handing out a bunch of W7 discs to those unfortunate to have Vista installed on their machine.

I would say they will probably select anywhere between 1,000 and 10,000 people.

edit: haha at the red for me and the guy above.

Maybe I'll win cause my birthday is the same day as the release

And since this is fatwallet... we'll all be posting deals we can get by having a corporate sponsored wedding.

Minister: "Do you <so and so> take <so and so> to be your lawfully wedded iHusband?"
Man: "I iDo!"
Minister: "And do you <so and so> take <so and so> to be your lawfully wedded iWife?"
Woman: "I iDo!!"
Minister: "I now pronounce you iHusband and iWife. You may iKiss the iBride!"

LOL what a deal!

So, as a college undergraduate with a house, could I just host a house party and call it Windows themed?

I wonder if this is part of a new cross-promotion with Girls Gone Wild.

Bah I'll just steal it.

I think it's funny that all the geeks are posting pictures of other geeks.

Anyone knows that if all attendees get a copy of the Windows 7 or is it just only for the host? Can the party be at the outside of the house? Can we limit the attendees to just friends and family?

Thanks in advance.

You mean Girls Gone Windows?
Sorry. I couldn't help myself.

I approve ... Windows 7 for everyone !

Do they plan to offer Windows 6.9 ?

Skipping 293 Messages...

I got mine a week ago and did the dreaded upgrade instead of a clean install. I upgraded from Vista Ultimate to 7 Ultimate. I am surprised and pleased to say that the upgrade went flawlessly (unlike XP > Vista which Sucked). I have been up for over a week and no bugs, no startup issues, and no issues at all. Thanks MSFT for finally doing something right.

And of course thanks OP for turning me on to this deal!!
