First deal post so be gentle

Staples weekly ad sneak peak has the HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer (wired version) for $150 off, starting Sunday 9/6

It retails at $299.99, so that would make it $149.99
- $25 coupon, bought for $2ish at e-junkie.com
- $50 HP trade-in for any old printer (it is eligible) HP offer

gives a final price of $75, plus tax, plus cost of coupon

printer at staples

It's best to do this at the store, because then you get the $50 for the trade-in instantly instead of having to deal with the mail-in rebate. So when you buy your coupon off e-junkie make sure you get one that can be used in store or you might have trouble getting them to take it.

Also, someone made the good point in another thread related to this HP trade-in deal, that you should take your old ink cartridges out of the printer you are trading in. I think they'll give you $3 store credit for those, so maybe you can get that applied first before you make the purchase for a bit more $ off.

Inkjet. Not a laser.

I was just about to buy expensive ink for a lousy Lexmark AIO, but for $75 this seems much better.

Where is the $25 coupon???

Thanks OP!

Sorry should've mentioned that in the original post - there's a bit of a catch, you have to pay a couple bucks for the coupon. But it is delivered to your email fairly instantly. You can get them at e-junkie.com.

Looks like a decent deal to me. Green for the OP

No, it looks like the same deal they have right now. Op is assuming that the cost will be $150 minus a $50 trade in minus $25 coupon = $75.

Never make posts with assumptions on what the price "may" be at.

Most likely the price already includes the $50 trade in applied.

The sale's price $199 already includes the $100 savings, but not the rebate. So this would be 199-50-25= $124

Nothing wrong with that. This printer uses higher volume tanks than the norm. Color output is great - low end lasers simply don't have the same color printing capabilities as a good inkjet.

That's the current price. Next week's ad, beginning 9/6, which is viewable online now, says it is $150 off - with no mention of the trade-in anywhere.

wireless version is $225 at Costco b&m

Both technologies have their annoyances, but there are those that prefer inkjet over laser.

I don't think you're supposed to provide a link to e-junkie coupons.

That's a FatWallet official rule.

I thought the current Staples coupons now exclude technology - can someone confirm that they were recently able to apply a coupon to a printer.

Darn you OP! Just spent 50 bucks on the OJ 8000 wireless (no cartridges to trade in : /) Perhaps I should go get a junk printer from a garage sale and do this one too!

stevelion said: I thought the current Staples coupons now exclude technology - can someone confirm that they were recently able to apply a coupon to a printer.Yes, I did one at checkout a couple weeks ago on an HP 8000 wireless at Staples. That deal was about $40 for just a wireless printer (a better deal for about $15 came up last week at HP. This deal for $75 for an AIO is good, especially with just dropping the old printer in a shopping cart at Staples and that's it (no boxing, mailing, waiting for rebate, etc)--(if it were wireless it would be amazing)

I was right whereas you were wrong. I eagerly await your full retraction and unreserved apology. The damage that your red flag has caused this post has been devastating on many levels.

Thanks in advance,

Edit - I should probably add that I am joking in case anyone gets upset. You never know on the internet

Does anyone know whether the ink cartridges are refillable for this model?

I would rather add something worth few cents or dollar and use $30 off $150 coupon, which is cheaper too

Thanks OP, good deal. My wife needed one and I almost got it last week for $50 more.

Picked one up for 71.15 after tax this morning. Trade in SKU scanned at $60.01 discount instead of $50.

Isn't ink expensive for this?

Costco has 2 packs of the black XL cartridges for $65 and a pack with 1 each of the colors for $65. So not too bad, if the yields are close to what HP claims. HP claims per print costs close to or better than laser...

So that's a $130 for ink. Sounds like this printer is better suited for high volume printing.

What model did you buy, and what trade-in SKU did then use?

If you get a CIS(Continuous Ink System), it'll save you A LOT more.

OfficeJet Pro 8500. I almost lucked out an got the wireless edition. the clerk had pulled the wireless down for me and put it in the cart, when another mentioned that he had grabbed the wrong one. When we got to the front, he put it at the end of register and just called out the SKU to the cashier - so it would have been an extra good deal (don't need wireless, but the legal scan glass would have been handy).

Promotion # 91241

Recycling Confirmation SKU 797217 .01
Printer SKU 772940 89.97

Regular Price $299.98
Item Discount -$60.01

subtotal 89.98
25/75 coupon -25
9.5% tax 6.17

total: $71.15

Good deal but I bought Brother for $18 AC/AR. Brother ink is cheap.

Give credit where credit is due. I'm looking at you, OP.

I just bought this printer too. My father in law wanted to buy a laptop and so I could use the $ 60 rebate on all wireless printers (with PC purchase). So without using the e-junkie coupon this is what I got:

149.99-50 (for old printer) = 99.99
99.99-60 (need to fill in easy rebate) = 39.99 + tax.

Not sure if the ejunkie coupon can be stacked on top now that I have already bought it (in store). Any ideas???

BTW, I still have not given my old printer which is a perfectly fine working Photosmart All in One. Sinc eit was an impulse buy the guys at the store asked me to leave it when convenient and so I will do that later.

Just got one 8500 (772940) at local Staples. Had a crap printer to trade in and used $25 off $75 coupon. Store's sales associate insisted the e-junkie coupon is for on-line order, not for in-store purchase and offered his acceptance of the coupon if I go with the 2-yr protection plan (I knew he tried to sell the protection plan to earn commission) for $15. I took his "offer" just for the coupon to go. For sure I'll return that protection plan in the next few days

My cost will be $150 - $50 printer recycling - $25 off - $25 Discover GC = $50, plus tax.

On store receipt, you'll see a promotion discount of -60.01 for printer trade in, but then on next line there's a charge of $10.00 (for printer recycle) which ends up $50.01

So, you won't get $60.01, but $50.01, when recycling your old printer. That poster didn't read his receipt closely.

Huh? This was all me buddy. I'm sure someone else on the internet somewhere has also posted the deal. Someone else on FW posted it a day after me, if that's what you are referring to.

I'm not sure I'll bother in future. The world of online deal-posting seems too fraught with tension and danger for my tender soul

How sensitive!!!

Just because ONE person half-picked on you???

Whatever. Maybe your receipt has a $10 charge, but there sure isn't one on my receipt, and the total came to ~$65 + tax.

Maybe the cashier missed entering a second SKU on mine, all I know is I got a good deal.

If what you've reported was true, you might have been in luck

Another look at my receipt, there was a 1¢ charge for "Recycling Confirmation". So actually I got only $50, not $50.01, credit for recycling my old printer.

Anyway, getting $60.00 for old printer recycling is YMMV.

My store manager would not accept the 25 off 75 coupon and the recycling discount. Had a five minute polite discussion and they kept pointing to the fineprint on the 25/75 coupon that says it cannot be combined with other promotions.

I did not want to spend any more time there so I just used the 25/75. Now I'll have to return the printer, get Staples cash card for my coupon, then re-buy & recycle. It's starting to look more and more like a waste of my time.

I think that it is $60.01 in California to off set the $10.00 recycling fee. I got $60.01 off as well, and the state $10.00 fee applied to my reciept.

Tell him that you'll purchase the 2,3, or 5-year protection plan; I'm pretty sure he'll scan the e-junkie for you and you'll hear no beeps from cash register.

I got -

1 Recyling confirmation - .01
1 HP Officejet 8500 - 89.97

Instant savings -150.00
* item discount -60.01

So it came to 89.98 for me plus tax. YMMV. I didn't get the $10 charge.

I didn't have an extra coupon (my $50 AR Samsung color laser CLP-315 printer is dead after less than 6 months, so nothing to print with :S) and needed a printer ASAP.

I kinda wondered when she said $95 somthing but didn't argue.

Missed it. Hope comes back up on sale before the HP deal ends. Got several good but OLD printers that I need to trade-in since their drivers are not available beyond XP...

new2fatwallet2 said: xSDMx said: twinlabs said: Showing as $229.99 online. Thought this deal was running through 9-26....

Does someone have a scan of the original ad saying "9/26"? I went to get the printer today (did not purchase), and was told the price was $230, and not $150.

HP's $50 Trade-in program expires on 12/31/2009 and you can buy it from any authorized resellers. I found CompBargins is selling it for $158. See http://www.compbargains.com/_e/Multifunction_Printers/sproduct/1...

Maybe Staples will price match?

They also have the HP 8000 Wired and Wireless for $50 and $70 respectively. Their sales dept said they are HP authorized reseller. Has anyone bought from CompBargains.com before?
