I got the pair yesterday by printing out the Howard's Appliances web pages for the washer and dryer and took them to Lowes and got the price match plus 10% totalling $890.10 + tax AMR.

WHIRLPOOL DUET SPORT ENERGY STAR RATED Washer
Model: WFW8300S

WHIRLPOOL 6.7 Cu. Ft. Capacity Duet Sport™ Gas Dryer
Model: WGD8300SW

You got a super deal. I bought the 9500 series duet at Lowe's yesterday in NYC and it came out to $2166.18 including tax. My brother has the set you have. Remember to leave the washer door open to prevent mildew and use a HE detergent.

Thanks for the tip, I would have kept the door closed.

For the life of me, I can't figure out the "sport" feature(s) on this. Racing stripes?

Maybe the sport part refers to doing the laundry quickly, fast, lickity-split style. Unlike my wife. Lol

OR how about:

LG WM2010CW & DLE1310W for $ 998 /pair
(electric Dryer) - (Gas Dryer DLG1320 available at additional +$70)
sale at Home Depot
some people have had problems finding service with LG depending on where you live.

Find out who will service them in your area.

some info at http://www.ajmadison.com/

some LG service manuals are on-line .. many models are similar

I bought 9500 washer and dryer yesterday too but it only cost me about $1,520 with $250 rebate.

If you gotta leave the door open...

Sounds like a design flaw. Just hope you don't have kids or someone or a dog that will keep hitting the door cause its open and weakening the hinges.

Keeping the door open is not a design flaw, its nature and gravity. The water in any front-load washer does not drain 100%. Leaving the door open allows the air to dry the bits remaining in the drum. If the door is closed, it locks and seals the drum. The trapped moisture causes mold to grow.

The mold problem is not the remaining water in the Drum ...

Because home Front Loaders don't use much water, the water level never usually reaches the Door Seal.

It's the trapped water / soap scum that gets "splashed" under the bottom front lip of the Door Seal...
(not a problem on a Top Loader)

Some Front Loaders have a "Tub Clean" cycle, that increases the Water level to reach that area...
(suggested once a month)

I would love to know where you bought them for $1520.

I got a pair of 9500 series. They cost me 900+800-170 (10% off)-250 rebate = $1280 + tax. I also bought 4 yr extended warranty for ~$160.

For those who price matched, does your receipt have the model name/number etc on? I did the price match and my receipt says "Recall amount" and the amount I paid. Nowhere it says the washer/dryer model / name. This is going to be a pain when doing rebates. I am thinking I need to go back and have them reprint this so I can do the other rebates.
