Theatre Communications Group's FREE NIGHT OF THEATER program is celebrating its 5th anniversary and returns to theatres across the country on October 15, 2009. Free Night introduces people to the thrill of live theatre - absolutely free of charge! Last fall, 650 theatre companies, in 120 cities from coast to coast, opened their doors to over 65,000 new theatergoers. This year, our participating theatre companies will offer even more tickets for free. Join thousands of audience members - from Portland to Charleston, and from Houston to Minneapolis - and explore all the wonderful entertainment your local theatre community has to offer!

This was the Free Night of Theater NYC 2008 page. You can get an idea of what they offered, as the shows are still searchable. Free Night of Theater NYC 2008
MsJAP said: You can still view info from last year on the official site: http://www.freenightoftheater.net/regions.cfmChecked a couple city's and they state "Tickets may be reserved as of: 2009-10-01". But no show details yet, just links to the sponsoring organization in each city. Hopefully show lists will go up before then.

Hmm...I wonder whether these shows are any good. Has anyone been to any of these shows in 2008 and enjoyed it? Is there any place I can find reviews of these shows?
ixijimixi: The idiots that are complaining regarding their lack of reading comprehension seem to be the ones with their panties in a bunch, buddy. The OP made it pretty clear in the first sentence, giving us a heads up. Just relax and give the OP a break. He's doing us the favor and you guys get angry and are b1tching about it because you want it now, right now, just like little children. Let me serve as your daddy... calm down now...be patient...be nice...good job!
Now, of course, I don't like the idiots that are quick to complain and whine about something without reading the post, but I can definitely laugh at those with a sense of humor. Do you think Circuit City will have any good deals for Black Friday?

I've participated in this national event the last two years for Cleveland. Tickets did go fast, but I was able to get a couple tickets for 2 shows I wanted to see(use 2 logins) The last couple years each city handled their own tix, but it looks like the national site may be handling everything this year. My Cleveland link now goes to the OP's link. Hope it doesn't slow the process down.

Thanks for the heads up. I really appreciate it! Since we will probably have to drive a fair distance, advance warning gives me time to book a wallet friendly hotel.

Rough crowd here! Still no cities listed. DIRECTLY FROM THE WEBSITE: The Free Night program online ticket reservation system will begin in most participating regions on or about October 1, 2009. For details on cities and theatres in your area be sure to check back on Friday, September 18th.
Sorry for the noobness, but I'm not familiar with this program. Do you reserve the tickets from the FNOT website? or from the participating locations themselves?
Depends on the show. Some offering only one while others offer two tickets. But can you reserve tickets for more than one show and use same address. I'm just worried that if I use a different address that I won't be able to pick up the reserved tickets since my ID only shows one place of residence. Any help, anybody?
