Reminds me of that scene from Christmas Vacation when Clark turns on his christmas lights and the nuclear reactor emergency siren goes off.

Better deal IMHO. $113.73 for TWO shipped, excludes breakout cable which is $33 each

Don't know if OP site includes the cable or not.

I'm not going to bother commenting on this item specifically, but I do want to crap on SurplusCONputers. horrible experience with this company from their last crazy xeon server deal.

its like the got a pallet of these things in as-is/untested conditon and they ship to you to figure out if it works or not. when it doesn't, if your are LUCKY, they will give u an RMA number a month later and expect you to pay shipping.

just a big warning, save yourself the headache and buy from someone, ANYONE else. these guys are scum.

Buying these 'cheap' server is gamble in general.

I had an even worse experience with another company from eBay .. they were local so I drove by and picked it up .. first time, the server had bad ram, didnt boot .. they told me to come back and pick up another one .. the server came missing CPU .. when I complained, the guy basically called me a thief claiming that I stole the two xeon CPU that would be worth maybe 10 bucks on eBay for both .. then threatened me with a lawsuit if I was to leave him bad feedback. Needless to say, he got the worse feedback I could give. Its been over a year, and I'm still waiting to be served .. lol

I can recommend Stallard Technologies for used servers. Bought two used Dell PowerEdge 6400's about 4 years ago used for $1,000 each and they are still running strong. Only issue I had was the shipping company dropped one of them which dislodge one of the CPU's (slot type). You can purchase from their site (configuration options available) or they sell on eBay (predetermined configuration).

Are you kidding me? I got several 6450 (same as 6400, just 4U case)4 or 5 years ago for $200 each.

At the time that was a good price from a reputable seller that included a 1 year warranty and free shipping. I don't know of many places that offer a 1 year warranty on used servers. Doing research at the time this was a good deal. Looking on eBay just now looks like some sellers offer 3 year warranties on used servers. Next time a need a server I will look up this thread and offer you a finders fee to source me a better deal.

I hate to sound like a newb, but does this thing come with an OS?

It didn't say in the specs, but I doubt it will come with an OS.

I bought PowerEdge 1800 Dual Xeon Processor 2.8ghz with raid controller two years ago for $999 going strong.
