If you've never seen one of these movies, they look great. I got a player for my computer because it was cheaper and I have 24 inch 2405 monitor. Anyway, I quit renting blu ray movies because of the way people look. I love HD TV, sports, landscapes, etc. But actors look like crap in Blu ray, you can see all the flaws and cover ups they use to make themselves look younger. I just didn't enjoy that much realism. It's a lot different looking at football or something like that, football looks great on HD but that's not Blu ray. Movies have too many close up lingering scenes with the camera stuck on close ups of people faces...yuk.

I would say this is a recommendation against hi def in general - whether disc or broadcast. Rumor has it the industry where they make movies that show a lot of skin - has problems with hi def. Expect the makeup or the
post processing to get better.

Does it gross you out that their skin is not perfect and they might not be wearing makeup? This is a stupid complaint. I'm with the other guy, makeup will have to improve. This is the same process that happened when they went from BW to color movies. They have to adapt. Don't make my movies soft and fuzzy just to coddle the actors. And remember, you can probably turn the sharpness down on your TV. This can soften things dramatically.

Do you stand close enough to coworkers to simulate watching a 40+ inch tv from a few feet away with the camera doing a tight close-up on their face? This is not only a question of resolution, but distance to the subject as well.

"Limited Warranty Term : 90 Day Limited Warranty" is this good enough?

Unless it breaks after the warranty expires, it is.

Faulty comparison. Obviously, the appeal of movies is the illusion, the "suspension of disbelief."

i thought this was also attributed to the fact that blu-ray movies in hd are based off film, whereas hd broadcast isn't, thus it looks better.

I guess the porno industry will not go Hi Def anytime soon.
