EXPERT REVIEW
Philips designed the DVP 5990/37 with convenience in mind. Philips guarantees that this player will read all DVD’s from any country. The video potential is capable of 720p/1080i/p video upscaling, along with progressive scan and HDMI, but only with a 12bit/108MHz D/A video converter. USB flash drives are compatible with the DVP 5990/37 USB port, a convenience for those looking for a devise to support external USB devices. Multi-formats are not an issue, as MPEG and DivX videos are recognized, along with MP3, PCM and WMA audio files.

Out of stock.

Not a deal either. I paid $39 from WalMart for this about 3 months ago. it is a great DVD player for the price though!

Got it as a refurb from Philips outlet for $25 but it is an excellent player and well worth twice what I paid.

I disagree with all you homeboys.

It's in stock, and without a time machine it's a good price. $52 out the door for me. These Philips players are great at playing DivX and Xvid. I owned two older models that died in a thunderstorm, and this is a good price for a quick replacement.

with tax and shipping it's like 64 bucks. At J/R it's 59.99 shipped free.

Mine died after 4 months. Too bad it only has a 3 month warranty. Won't read disks anymore, very dissapointing.

I've enjoyed mine - got mine at Costco. It seemed to be too much work dealing with the whole USB movie thing so I stick to DVD-RWs, but it does work. At least it's a good upscaling DVD player that will save some wear and tear on my PS3 (which I'll use exclusively for gaming and Blu-Ray).

HUH ???
That is it's claim to fame !

5990 & 5992 are the same. 5992 is sold at some Costcos (Midwest). Everyone else sells the 5990.

Same here... Junk... Unit bricked itself while playing a disc just AFTER the warranty expired... In the trash.

Got a Pioneer DV-400 and couldn't be happier!!! Picture is outstanding on the Pioneer and was just okay on the Phillips using component video.

Ah. I wish someone mentioned that to me here. And I wonder why Dell used to sell the 5992 (according to that thread).
