Searched and searched and didn't find this anywhere. Friday's Dallas Fry's ad has the LG CH08LS10 internal blu-ray burner for $119.99. The Frys.com blurb says it's only a DVD writer, but the LG site says it's a blu-ray writer with HD-DVD ROM support. Actually, the LG page is ambiguous: LG site Blu-Ray Combo - Bulk Pack Internal Blu-ray Disc BD-Rom / DVD Rewriter World's fastest BD-R write speed of 8x. Record up to 50GB of Video, Pictures or Data on a single Blu-ray disc media, that's five times the capacity of standard DVDs. S-ATA (Serial Advanced Technology Attachment) is an advanced interface, replacing the parallel ATA for an enhanced computing platform. Automatically controls read speed to reduce noise during media playback.
if it's really a BD-R, then this is a fantastic deal. Can someone confirm, since the manufacturer's page doth suck?

Zenoicus said:this is a BD reader, not a BD burner--and nowhere on the LG site does it say otherwise.either this is a BD writer, or LG has come up with a way to record 50 GB of data onto a DVD, which, well makes BD's obselete.
It's a burner. The price of media is still pretty much a barrier to mass adoption of writers (Sony's intention, my guess)

This came up for (I think) even cheaper than this within the last 10 days or so. From Fry's again. Not sure if I had seen it on Fatwallet or somewhere else.
Definitely not a blu-ray burner, that I can tell you. The thing I've been trying to track down ever since that last deal is the question of whether or not this drive can read HD-DVD discs. The box doesn't list it, but some sites do list that it can, so who knows. It might be an "unofficial" feature.
actually, with a little further checking, I had received a weekly email from Fry's about this (and other) deals. And the price was the same two weeks ago, $119.99.
The frys.com specs are as follows: G ELECTRONICS CH08LS10 SUPER-MULTI DVD BURNER W/8X BLU-RAY SERIAL SATA INTERNAL DRIVE LG: FRYS.com #: 5928944 BD/DVD/CD Read & Write, HD DVD Read Serial ATA LightScribe Support 4 MB Cache Write Speed: 16 X DVD-RW Read Speed: 8x Blu-Ray Load Type: Tray Enclosure Type: Internal Color: Black frys.com
and the online store prices is $139. But it's just as ambiguous as the LG spec sheet.
That model number doesn't even show up on the US LG site. So, are y'all saying that it can't be the model number, and, therefore, all bets are off as to what Fry's is actually selling as this product?
One last post to this. I've seen BD-ROM/DVD burners under $100 ALOT. Case in point, ZZF has the drive that Fry's actually advertised for $99 w/ FS. @ZZF
I've seen Blu-ray writers down as low as $149 already (and maybe $139) but the sweet spot for me is around $100. $120 was tempting, but not irresistible.
searching for "blu-ray" on FW is frustrating because of the lack of consistency in post titles.
So...what's the lowest price y'all have seen for a BD burner?
From Techbargains: One Day Only. Newegg has the LG CH08LS10 8x Blu-Ray Reader DVD±R Burner w/ LightScribe for a low $99.99 Free Shipping after Coupon Code: EMCLXMS22 (9/15). Tax in CA, NJ, TN, PR.

Ditto, 139 needs to be 100 for me... and searching is frustrating. Speaking of which, can you update the title that this is only a BD-ROM?
