First post. Seems like a great deal on this tool set.
1) It's on sale for $99.99 + tax (regularly $199.99 + tax) 2) You can enter coupon code SEARS5OFF50 at checkout to bring the total down to $94.99 + tax. 3) You can use Bing CashBack to get 8% back ($7.60 which brings the total down to $87.39 + tax on $94.99) 4) Use in-store pickup for free shipping.
I just bought it this morning and the Bing CashBack hasn't appeared in my account yet, but I think I need to give it a couple days for it to appear.
Here is the link to the item on Sears.com Here is the PDF that contains a detailed description of every tool in the set.

I'm curious to see if Coupon use is ok with Bing.....
Awesome set, great price. Best price I have seen by $50.

Read the spec list. Too much overlap in the sets, sizes are heavily weighted in the smaller (and less useful) direction and not enough larger sizes. one gets a feeling this package is designed by a marketing effort to give you a large tool count yet fit into a small box, and at the same time leaving you inadequate and wanting to buy more from them later.
Wow, that is a LOT of sockets. From the looks of the list, it's basically the same socket sizes over and over in 6pt/12pt, standard/deep, and 1/4" & 3/8" & 1/2" drive sizes. That's an amazing price for that many Craftsman pieces, but a set of the sockets in one of the drive sizes would have been sufficient for most people.
its still a good starter set for an auto mechanic or airplane mechanic as it has a multitude of 12 point sockets which are all over airplanes. i bought it just because it gives a great variety of metric sockets.

Not a huge deal but you can use coupon code '777' until Sept. 19th for $7 off instead of $5. Just ordered one for myself - thanks OP!

Nice set but I already have most of them. The problem with sets is that invariably it doesn't have what you want so you still have to go out and buy more.
This is a good deal especially (IMO) because it comes with a 1/2" ratchet. The slightly smaller set I bought a couple years ago is similar but only came with a 1/4" and 3/8" ratchet. Not a 1/2. Yet it came with some 1/2" sockets (and an adapter from 3/8 to 1/2 so you can still actually use the 1/2" sockets) but you just don't have that umph that a full 1/2" ratchet has. The 1/2" ratchet (which I've since bought separately) is a $23 item in itself, FYI. Since the other ratchets are $13 and $18 it equates to $54 worth of ratchets alone in the set. Now to decide whether I want to spend this much for a Xmas gift!
Way too many "specialty tools" (61) for me. But thanks anyway.

Even without all the fluff tools to make the total count go up, this is a smoking deal! As toomanytoys mentioned, the ratchets alone would cost about $54. Then you get 128 sockets for about $0.35 each. This isn't even including the ~$15-$20 value of the ten wrenches.
I'm still trying to figure out why when a deal requires CashBack via rebate we are all up in arms about including AR in the title and people complain about rebates.
Yet when it's BING CashBack or paypal CashBack or other things that are CashBack after the fact people just don't seem to care.

Why is that ?Good question. I haven't received any confirmation from either Sears or Bing on the CashBack for this deal. Has anybody? This is my issue with Bing. The terms seem to move around. I didn't see any page on the Sear site showing what my CashBack would be.

"Smoking" on Craftsman tool sets is less than 50c per real piece (ie not counting "specialty tools"). This set is close at 60c, but not quite there.

This is exactly how we tend to end up buying a lot of things we don't need. The thing is that if you were to buy the items individually, we wouldn't buy so many tools of same sizes where the added utility is marginal at best, and you wouldn't buy so many useless small sizes. Even if you pay $40 each to buy two complimenting sets of 10 very good tools you actually need. You'd still do better by not having the useless ones taking up the space.
Just picked up my set today. Was missing one piece, an 11mm extended socket 12pt I think, but had two 9mm std 6pt sockets. I'm gonna go back tomorrow and see if I can exchange the extra socket for the missing one.
The carrying case is alright. Has dedicated slots for everything except the allen keys which come in thick plastic bags, one bag for the metric allen keys, another bag for the sae keys. I would have preferred dedicated slots for those as well, but oh well. There's a decent amount of empty space in the middle to hold random extra sockets or wrenches. Overall I think a good tray system would be much better, but for the price I'm not complaining.

Yes, a lot of airplane bolts, and almost certainly turbine engine bolts have 12 point heads. Google '12 point bolt' for an image. Also, I think my friend said Jaguar cars also use 12 point heads in some positions. And I just read that some Jeep and Harley's use 12 point as well.
Note: when applying a lot of torque to remove a bolt/nut, it is better to use a 6 point socket on a 6 point bolt/nut as it will grip better and have less tendency to slip off than a 12 point.

I think the deal is dead now. When I add to my chart, it says 129 when I try to check-out. But oddly still says it is 99$.

Which link did you use through Bing? One of the search results or the sponsored link on the right?I used 8% search link. got 2%. I think Sears does its own modification.
Unfortunately this deal does appear to be dead now because it's showing as 129.99. Thanks for all the green, I'm already enjoying my tool set and I hope you all do too.
