I've smoked a *LOT* of Rocky Patels in my day... They always start out great but the last third of their cigars are always nasty. My favorite though is the Java Maduro Robusto (Drew Estate -- which is another Rocky Patel brand).

Java's are disgusting smokes (all infused/flavored smokes are nasty, and best enjoyed by old ladies and teenage kids IMO)... and Drew Estate isn't a Patel brand. The Java's are a "joint effort" of the two manufacturers. I'm not sure what Patel's you've been smoking... but if you're going to smoke a Patel, go with a Decade, vintage 1990 or 1992, Olde World Reserve, or even the Sun Grown or Edge (prefer the maduro myself). ALL vastly superior to the Java. ALL. None of these exhibit a "nasty" last 1/3 of which you speak.
However, don't buy anything from Thompsons unless you enjoy getting sales calls and spam.

Obviously I disagree about flavored cigars. I think they're a nice treat on occasion. Doubly so with the CAO moontrance. My god that's tasty
