Was walking out The Home Depot in Cumming, GA yesterday and spotted a small end cap with this deal:
Buy the DeWalt 35-piece Impact Ready driver set for $29.99(+tax) and get the DeWalt 45-piece driver set FREE with in-store coupon.
The coupon was on a big pad attached to the shelf. They had both products laying there for easy access.
They had six or seven units left. I don't know when this expires but it seems like a GREAT deal.
UPDATE: I just came back from checking out The Home Depot at Exit 11 (Windward Parkway off GA400) in Alpharetta, GA, and they had a bunch on the end cap and several more on the shelf with the other driver bits.
I also confirmed that this deal does not expire until Oct 21, 2009.
I can confirm it. I went to the Cumming store too. The promotion is nation wide and the impact ready sets are not something they normally stock at lest not at my HD. They had lots of the driver sets but only a few imapct sets. They have tons of coupons.

Man, lots of FWers at this location. Maybe that's why the employees there are always so suspicious of deals (bordering on being rude). Definitely not my favorite HD.

Confirmed. Just bought it at Elmont, NY. Fully stocked and coupons are next to the Dewalt section. However, the cashier was confused that the pack was FREE and took her time to read to double check. She could not believe. Thanks FW.

Looks like I will be printing that coupon out and taking it to my Home Depot
I think the 35 pcs set is over priced for what you get...so without a coupon I dont see the big deal here. Anyone care to elaborate? Very well documented post OP everyone should follow your example.
very tempting... how useful is the 35-piece impact set? Is it made for those hammer drills? Why would I use an impact driver instead of a regular one? The pivoting adapter looks handy, though getting enough leverage at larger angles seems like a challenge.

I absolutely thought the same thing (well, still do)--until I searched the web for impact driver bits (including Amazon). I got in on a FatWallet Makita Impact Driver and Drill deal a while back and haven't used the impact driver much because I was looking for a good price on the bits.
There was an interesting, if short, article on some DeWalt impact driver bits at FineHomeBuilding.com. The comments after about other competing products (Norseman?) were interesting. "I paid $26 for a 7 pc set. Pricey, but they look to be off a very high quality. Finally a good set of bits for my impact."
Wow! That's definitely what I call pricey! It's probably a case of you-get-what-you-pay-for. Tools usually fall into that category.
Anyway, I've searched all over the Web and people seem to be all over the map regarding who makes the best impact driver bits. Frankly, I liked this deal because I'm always chewing through the regular bits, and a free set was nice justification to buy some impact ready ones--at least that was what my wife liked hearing when I dropped $30 worth of little black bits into my cart.
I really don't do a lot of heavy duty screw/bolt driving, but if you've ever used an impact driver it's soooo much easier and faster.
The impact bits are stronger than the normal driver bits. I have broken several driver bits with the impact driver. These look to be good quality. The coupon but it makes it a pretty good deal. If you were to buy them seperate they would cost a lot more.
I would not use screwdriver bits in a hammer drill on the hammer setting. An impact driver is made to drive longer bigger screws. If you are driving little 1 in screws your drill driver is jsut fine. You CAN drive 4 in screws into oak with a normal driver but using an impact driver is much faster and easier.
I can confirm this in NH. I got this deal about 2 weeks ago during the power tool deal they had going on. I had bought a cordless Dewalt setup and needed bits and saw the display with the pad of coupons on it. The 45 piece was $20 which I was going to buy anyway. So basically I got the impact set for $10.

I was there for other stuff, but wanted to pick these up as well...
Are you sure, all of HDs in my area, Northern Virgina, have them. I got two of them for the price of one a few weeks back
For those who do not know about this, yes, the coupon is inside the store, just pick up the two and the tear out the coupon, the cashier will take care that.
New Hartford NY Store had the coupons right next to the drives. Used a True Value $5 off $25 coupon that I got in the HANDYMAN mag so it just sweetened the deal. THX OP
HD in Garden Grove, CA has plenty of them left. The price is $29.99 for the 35 pc and $0.01 for the 45 pc since they do not have any coupon to apply. Used a 10% Lowe's coupon to take care of tax.

My store had a huge sign hanging in the tool department if that helps at all. Print out the copy of the coupon and have the checkout scan it! That should work.

Yeah - I tried. I have 2 Impact drills and this would have been perfect. I blew out a couple of bits installing a Garage Door opener last weekend. All 3 stores never even heard of the deal. If anyone finds one in Central Jersey or Manhattan that takes it, please post...

Round 2.
printed out the coupon and went to the homedepot on northern blvd. Went to the self checkout and tried to get the coupon to scan myself. It wouldn't so I had to bring it to the CSR who was overlooking the 4 self checkout stands. She comes over to my register and punches it in for me. Didn't have a problem with the fact that I printed it out and it said Flickr across the top and that when I did a double sided print out for the 2 sides, they ended up backwards. Took it, entered it in for me and then folded the piece of paper and dropped it into the coupon slot. woohoo.

Colonia, NJ finally got it and the set was only $19.99. So total was only $19.99 plus tax for both sets...
