While doing a in-store pickup for an online purchase Friday, I noticed a GMC 10 in. 15 Amp Slide Compound Miter Saw @ Sears on sale for $119. Behind it was the Original Price Tag which showed $149 and the fine print said Free Grinder Item # 11651
So, yesterday, I was browsing their website and found this rebate form for Program# H090622
This morning, the GMS Miter Saw showed up at $149, so, I used the online chat with them and the Cust Service Rep said "I do apologize its not showing the 20% in the cart, but if you're ready to order, I can honor that 20%." and that I would still be eligible for the Free Grinder offer.
So, while on the chat with him, I placed the order online and gave him my order confirmation #. He said "Thanks, I will request for the 20% to be credited back to you. Please allow 7-10 business days for the refund"
I also used the 777 coupon (Credit mikes929292 for this coupon)
My final price:
GMC 10 in. 15 Amp Slide Compound Miter Saw - $149.99 (-$7) - $142.99
Item #00912408000
Mfr. model # LSMS10UL

Craftsman 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder - $49.99
Item #00911651000
Mfr. model # 11651
(Savings applied: $7)
Tax $12.06
Total Charges: $205.04

I should get $30 credited back for the price adjustment and $49.99 MIR
So, final cost would be $113 + Taxes on $192.98, which for me, works out to $125.05

Also used Bing, which may sweeten this even more!
This may be a big YMMV!

green just for putting in all that work!

Thanks!!!

note the rebate form clearly states the power item (select ID's) MUST be purchased at "regular" price. To me that translates to full price..

Very possible the rebate will be disqualified..

So, now that it is on sale . . .
What is the quality like? Anyone have one of these.
It seems that most tools Sears sells now (except their original Craftsman line) is throw-away disposable tools that don't last long.

Here's a review Not exactly the same model, as the one in this thread does not have a laser.
Seems like the only "issue" with this saw, like many others, is 'trenching', where the blade does travel all the way back, but then, trenching is not a normal use of a chop saw.
I picked mine up today. Haven't opened the box yet.
I have, in the past, purchased a couple of tools made by GMC - a plunge router and a detail sander. Both have been pretty good. powerful motors etc.

Here's something from WoodWorking Forums.

For a 10" Sliding Coumpound miter saw, I think this is a good deal even without the free grinder....

GMC is a decent tool. I rank them better then harborFreight or Black&Decker but lower then dewalt/Bosch.

Also i have seen some say the company will not stand behind the warranty. one of several reason Lowes and others dropped GMC. So maybe that has been fixed?

My GMC Biscuit cutter works fine so does my GMC router. So i have never had to see if the warranty works well or not.

This saw is going on sale for $119 this Saturday according to Sears flyer.

The saw only is on sale in tonight's F&F Sears.com sale. Using coupon code 777 ends up at $92.13 + tax, local pickup available. Not bad for a sliding compound.
