Same computer, but maybe better deal (Additional MIR) http://www.Staples.com/office/supplies/StaplesProductDisplay?&storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10051&partNumber=801630&cm_mmc=Pricegrabber-_-Shopping-_-Technology%253EDesktop_Computers-_-801630-NP185AA#ABA
OD price is back up, but Staples has it for $279.90 now. What do you coupon shoppers say? Hmmm, do I jump on this now, or wait for further price drops? Decisions...
I bought this model at Staples back in late July, when it was $295 in the store, along with a "free" (AR) HP D4300 inkjet. It's a solid desktop PC that I got primarily for my son and wife to use. Based on our experience, the PC Magazine review (linked at Staples) is pretty accurate.
After I got the Compaq, I registered for the "free" Win 7 upgrade from HP on the web. They're charging $12 for shipping and handling. Some people are all steamed up about it, but I don't care as long as I get the upgrade.
P.S. This is a closeout item, so it's going away soon. Expect to see a "new" Compaq model very similar to it, but with Win 7 pre-installed, arriving around Oct. 22nd.

I know this is a long shot but does anyone remember anything about the $279 Staples deal saying anything about a free windows 7 upgrade with this PC purchase and if so what were the details of the upgrade. I got this at the $279 deal but so many things (life) got in the way of pursuing the upgrade. I've done a search but can find nothing about it in all the clutter that came back with the search. Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Well obviously in the clutter of the search I missed the post just below me. you know what they say "If it had been a snake" ahh well it 4 am here (note to self must get sleep) I'm currently contacting HP to see if I can still get the upgrade. If anyone has any additional info it would be greatly appreciated. To cartfan yes I agree, I wouldn't care to pay the $12 as long as I get the upgrade.
