Received a Costco ad flyer in the mail, but this one is for Costco.com - Exclusive Online Instant Savings, a first for me. As the title states, Gaggia Titanium Full Auto Espresso Machine. Lock and load = ) Description indicates $799 Online Price less $100 OFF purchase for a YOUR COST of $699.00 Delivered. "Cobalt blue LCD display, solid steel construction." is the only added description with a Costco number 446443, which I couldn't find online. I'm assuming (look out = ) it will magically materialize once the sale begins. Don't know the mfg. number and the picture resembles a number of Gaggia machines to this untrained eye. A whole lotta bucks for a whole lotta machine, but . . . now it's on sale. The more you buy, the more you save. = ) Costco.com carries a couple of other Gaggia machines, one for $399.00, which I understand to be a great price for an entry level machine, and one for $1,299 which has more bells, whistles, and chimes. Hopefully, someone with more knowledge than I, will post some comments, but I think you'll find this to be an excellent price. Sale runs from 9/28 - 10/18. No idea regarding B&M availability. Enjoy!
fantastic deal op! Now to convince the wife we need a new super automatic! our old one is giving us problems. However we have had a gaggia cafe de lux for years and its been consistant and fantastic. We switched to a spidem super auto and its been great, but recently the pump is starting to make funny noises and the espresso has beeen coming out slower and slower! Perfect timing!

I just returned my saeco machine to costco.. it started leaking water. How are gaggia machines on reliability?
For domi: I think if you check costco.com on Monday, 9/28, you should be able to find it. Once on costco.com try entering Gaggia in the search box. Right now it brings up two machines, the $399 and $1299 I mentioned in my original post. This one should pop up on Monday. If a search on Gaggia doesn't work, try the Costco number 446443. If those don't work, all I can think of is a phone call or an e-mail to Costco. The flyer I received was titled "Exclusive Online Instant Savings". Sorry, but I can't scan it. The sale price doesn't require a coupon, it's automatic if you're a Costco member. As I mentioned the sale runs from 9/28 - 10/18. Good luck.
For domi: Just reviewed the posts above and another fatwalleter attached a link (Thanks sean75p. = ) Just click on the word "linky" in the second section above (The Quick Summary Section). That should take you to the costco.com page you're looking for. Just wait 'til sometime between 9/28 and 10/18 to place your order and the price should have dropped $100 to $699. Take care.

Machine is pretty good. I have one at home. Makes a drink as good as a starbucks thermaplan machine except a bit slower
you can also purchase some good beans from theoriginalabc.com They have a few local B&M stores. Like Rancho said... fresh and dated.
Grizybaer said: I just returned my saeco machine to costco.. it started leaking water. How are gaggia machines on reliability?I bought a lower model (not automatic) Gaggia from Costco about 14 years ago -- I think it was $399. I used it every day. During the first year, while still under warranty, the pump failed. After it was replaced, the machine worked, and worked, and worked, for about 7 years, and then, finally, it died. I was happy with it. I'm also happy with the Rancilio Silvia I got from Costco to replace it.

Meh, I'll stick with my $499 Jura Capresso. If not I would be all over the one in OP.
Oh, and for beans: if you have Whole Foods around - they have a decent selection. Also they post the dates when beans are roasted on the bins, so you know up front how long ago the beans were roasted.

CoffeeGeek.com http://www.coffeegeek.com has unbiased reviews (at least they are not trying to sell you the same machines being reviewed). The ratings there are a bit lower: 7.4 of 10, Based on 10 Reviews. Epinions gives it 2 of 5 stars based on 10 reviews. Apparently Whole Latte Love is filtering out some bad reviews according to one of the posts on CoffeeGeek.
In general people appear to be happy when they work but find them hard to and get fixed under warranty when they break. There seems to be a a persistent problem with beans plugging up the grinder.
mintyfresh said: When did Costco sell Rancilios? That is sweet.Maybe 7 years ago, online. You know how it is with Costco.com, things come and they go. When the Gaggia died (which I had also bought online) I was hoping Costco still carried them because I was happy with it. But I'm even happier with the Silvia. I suspect the comparable Gaggia would have been nice, too. My old one was probably the bottom of the line for Gaggia, at least for machines that froth.
Did anyone buy the machine? Mine makes quite a bit of noise from the pump which goes down considerably when I press down on the water tank. I just wanna know if it is a problem of standard think.
We bought one and really like it. Since the bean hopper is near the back of the top, it's hard to access it under the cabinet, but other than that, we're very happy with it. It makes great coffee and it seems to be a pretty good price, too.
Note that the menu on it now does allow disabling the cup warmer on top (I had read somewhere that it could not). It's not such a huge deal in the winter when most of the heat would be put to use. But having it running in the summer fighting the A/C would have driven me nuts.
It is relatively quiet (in response to the person asking if they all made lots of noise.)

cup warmer gets its state of warmth from the boiler!

I had thought so, too. And maybe in some machines, it does. But it turns out not to be the case in the one I just got from Costco. The cup warmer appears to be a separate electric heater.
An excerpt from the manual clarifies...
"CUP HEATER PLATE This function allows you to turn on the cup heater plate present in the machine cover. CUP HEATER In programming mode, select the function using the ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ or ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ button, and confirm using the MENU/OK button. It will thus appear the indication to choose whether you wish to select CUP HEATER ON or CUP HEATER OFF using the ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ ∧ or ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ ∨ button, and confirm your choice using the MENU/OK button."

You do understand you could both be right. Perhaps some heat from the boiler is diverted with an electronically activated valve to a mechanism that disperses heat like a small exchanger or radiator that is mounted under the cup location.
