If you're talking about doing all this stuff in XP, maybe. However if you're running Linux/vdpau, then Nvidia will hands down slap the ATI.
And those looking for a CHEAP way to build a full 1080P monster. Get a GT210 (VDPAU feature set C, includes Upscaling on XBMC & XVID decoding) and the cheapest motherboard combo you can buy (as long as it supports SSE2).
Also, is this Gigabyte better than the comparable ASUS boards? I looked into getting an ASUS a few months ago but didn't because of bad reviews I kept reading.
Thanks for the reply. Setted acc to auto and it booted but wasn't dual core (according to cpu-z). I set it to both hybrid and acc auto and it wouldn't boot. Had to clear bios and start again.
Unlocking : Had this chip for a few days now with a gigabyte 785G with DDR2. Everytime I went to the ECC Hybrid mode I could not even post and had to reset the bios. I thought I was not going to be able to unlock the core but I worked around it. I bumped the vcore up to 1.5, leave ECC alone, and adjusted ACC +6 on all cores. That did the trick, more tinkering to do but it works. It does post an error in prime 95 pretty quickly though.
Same thing trying all the suggestions (thanx). I think I could be underpowered. I am using the 300w power supply from my old box and it only had (1) 4 pin cpu power connector (the mb needs 2)so that's all I used. The next time there's a 500w ps deal I'll pick it up and try that.
For $16 more than the current combo price for the Sempron 140, you may want to consider going with the x2 5000+, which apparently is a Deneb Phenom II X4 with two cores locked and can be unlocked to turn it into a quad core.
Although AMD used to make an X2 5000 with either a Brisbane or Windsor core, I think this one is a different CPU altogether and is not to be confused with the older dual core only CPU's.
I couldn't get any video (VGA or HDMI) and noticed that few people also experienced this issue. Also the MB box was not sealed with a tape so hope Gigabyte and Newegg are not recycling defective MBs.

There are also combos from $120-$134 with the Athlon II X2 240-250 (2.8-3Ghz) Regor. Or with the Athlon X2 7850 BE 2.8GHz for $140.

There was a big stink a few years ago about NE selling returned items as new. Seems like that was before they started offering items listed as Open Box items.?

Looks like the Newegg reviews are right - this is a dirt-cheap quad core, supposedly a Phenom II 940 with half of its cores and its Level3 cache locked.

This board is picky about RAM. Check your RAN against the supported memory list. I had this issue but a different RAM fixed it.
