Thanks OP. I also got the email, for had already forgotten about it. Downloaded the app and worked like a charm. You immediately receive the $5 with the reload.

Those machines they use at Starbucks or any (major) coffee shop are REALLY expensive.

Not to mention the labor cost.

If you want a cheap cup of coffee, you can always go to Tully's for $1.59 Iced Coffee with Unlimited Refill or go to McDonald's.

You're right. Caribou is so much more today, being run according to Sharia law and all.

This is awesome. Reloaded $25, balance shows as $30. A fairly neat app that I'm sure will get more use than I think it will. The regular Starbucks app is also very neat, although I wish they would have merged the two.

Anyway, I get iced coffee once or twice a week, and I have the gold card because my wife uses it too...for us, this is two free drinks, and we would spend the $25 there anyway.

You almost feel bad buying brewed coffee or hot tea at Starbucks, pretty much everyone buys fancier and more expensive stuff.

Yep, free coffee refills, and as many times as you want, but only during the same visit.** In other words, you can't leave the store and come back later for the refill. IMP: the card must be registered at Starbucks' website before you can take advantage of the freebies. Btw, even if you don't have the SB card, you can still get a refill for 50 cents plus tax.

This was a little confusing to me. I thought this meant you could pay using your iPhone. You can, but only in select markets (Bay Area, CA plus Seattle). So to use this, you would have to already have an existing physical card, or like me, go to a store to get one. Can you get an empty card and fill it with the app? Or do I have to ask the store to put on an arbitrary amount ($5) then load it afterward?

seems pretty straight forward to me:

Download and install the Starbucks Card Mobile APP.
Add $25 to your Starbucks card using the APP and paying with your Visa card.
Get an additional $5 automatically and instantly added to your account.

People who come on here with the obligatory starbucks strawman of $3 vs. $.30 is so hilarious. It's $1.60 if you get a regular cup of coffee. Not $3. The labor involved in starting a pot, waiting for it to percolate, and then cleaning it afterwards far outweighs the extra $1.30 for busy people like me. Not to mention, I really can never the the taste right anyways.

Oh just my luck. I got all my cards out of my wallet to look for a freakin Visa and realized I don't own a Visa card. All I've got are MCs and AMEXs. Damn it.

Yes. You need to uninstall and reinstall app and use different starbucks card and visa card. I did that works like a charm.
