I think they should just build a led into cellphones and be done with these keychain lights. I think Nokia had one or two models that had this, but it never really took off. Now that cellphones are near ubiquitous, everyone can have a led flashlight with them. Heck, don't most people already use the backlight as a (very weak) flashlight already?
A single 5mm Nichia or equivalent pulling 20mA. Child's play for today's Lithium polymer batteries.
Losing the keychain lights would be a green thing, as that would keep a bunch of tiny coin batteries out circulation.

my old cricket Keyocra had a led flash light it came in handy i dont know why all the newer cell phones dont have them.
