Better deal is to get a CPU back from the cutting edge. 99% of people won't notice any difference in their apps and the CPU will be less than half the price.

You know what would save you even more money than that? Not buying anything at all. Its a good deal, for this processor, which people (I guarantee you the sample rate is much higher than 1%) would notice a definite difference in. Its an I7 processor guys, and its worth every penny.
Paying for a cpu $545 ?This sounds like it is against the spirit of fatwallet no matter how much the actual price is.I always buy the cpu that is a little over than what my programs/timing need. I upgrade in 122-18 months later and get even a better cpu instead. With the less overall cost.
well i read the reviews of this processor on NeweggReviews and was very impressed with what people have said abt it...Its totally worth it as its not an extreme processor by one that has hyperthreading so will virtually act like a 8 core processor and that too u can overclock it to 4.8..and people have done overclocking to abt 4.2 and more with this processor.

Does anyone have a link to benchmarking results? I haven't seen reviews yet, wondering how much an improvement in performance this offers over the $200 920...
with the way the economy is and with BF coming something will happen. if not I only missed a few months. since these handle the new RAM whats everyones motherboard preference, there is only a few choices
even if its faster to overclock it, that $300 diff u will use for other hardwares (ram, mobo, etc) to make it overclock to 3.8 or 4.2...in that same difference u can easily achieve 4.6 in with i7 950

The $300 you are saying to spend on ram, mobo, etc would be spent on that regardless of which flavor i7 9x0 you got if you are looking at overclocking the chip. I gave the deal green for the price, but you'd be much better served getting the 920, overclocking it, and using the money saved to get a nice SSD or vid card.

Can you please post research and facts to your statistics here? - about your comment that "Its an I7 processor guys, and its worth every penny". $550+ for a CPU is a rid off to FWer, some people excluded.

rkennedy...if its a matter of budget or something and want a good rig then yeah 920 is also good...but for gamers who want a high ghz without overclocking then they would go for this...and thanks for the green for the price...this post is obviously for the low price of the processor.
