That one is several generations old and beat up, you can get a much better deal on eBay or craigslist. I've seen lots of macbook pros and newer macbooks listed for around $600 or less.
If any of you knows how to switch out the case, then this is worth a try? Personally, I don't know how to do it, but I've seen a few macbook cases that runs under $100 before taxes

$600 + $100 = $700
Why not spend a little more to get a refurbished directly from Apple with 1 year warranty? Besides, you will get a newer model, more memory, bigger hard drive, and a NEW battery. Why bother wasting your time to swap the case and risk breaking it? From what I heard, Apple refurbished laptops are pretty much brand new.
Sometimes you'll find they stock their refurb laptops for $799-849 here:
you can get an apple official refurb for 849 white one and the aluminum for 899 (current version)

I would not buy anything from Geeks.com that says refurbished. I ordered 2 mac mini's from there and they arrived in very poor condition. One of the mini's looked like some one had been poking the dvd-rom fabric door with a pen. They both had scratches all over them and they both had a mounting device glued onto the side to hook a lock up or something. I believe they are reselling display models and labeling them as refurbished, which in there eyes is just reloading the OS.

Apple refurbished items are great. I bought my wife a refurbished iPod and it has been working like a charm for over 6 months. I wouldn't buy any Apple refurbished stuff from anywhere else. It is just not worth it.
