Another option for those looking for a cordless phone set and don't need as many as in the current Costco coupon offer ($30 off, see the other thread).
Fry's has the Panasonic KX-GT9333T for $49.99 instead of $74.99. Like most it has answering machine, no keypad on the base station.
We actually went for the Uniden 2188 that has $20 instant mfg rebate at Costco as mentioned in this post. This has a corded phone on the base.
Stay away from this model, if you don't want any headache... just an advise... I had it for 4 weeks and ended up returning as it wouldn't charge batteries, handset wouldn't hold the connection with the base ... and so on and on ...
blueribb, Glad that you found the bad reviews ... good part was I was able to return it to Staples, they won't usually take it back after 14 days but in my case they did on 30th day.
I've got a set of these and had the same issues as described above. During the last hot deal featuring these, it was pointed out that changing from the Panasonic 650mAH batteries to 1,000 mAH batteries would fix these. I was skeptical but finally changed a set and I've had zero problems since then. In my opinion, Panasonic went from their traditional 3 battery system to this 2 battery system and then skimped on the batteries. Not enough power to keep phone functioning properly, hence why new 1,000 mAH batteries work (i.e. provide more power).
I'm not recommending buying this and changing batteries as Panasonic should have corrected this long ago. I'm giving the above advice to those like me that have had this phone for some time and would like it to at least work.
Set has dropped to $39.99 plus shipping as part of Fry's thanksgiving sale. Pretty good deal for a three-handset setup.
I have the very similar KXG9331T set that Fry's had as a doorbuster last year or the year before, can't remember. Virtually identical but came with 4 handsets instead of 3, as I recall. I bought two because I needed 6 handsets in my house. Sold what I didn't need on fleabay. My entire setup has performed flawlessly until just recently, when one handset has gotten flaky---not holding a charge well, dropping connection unexpectedly. After reading Engineer's comments above, seems pretty likely that it's just a failing battery. After all, they are NiMH AAA cells, and we all know they have a fixed lifespan after a certain amount of recharging. At least Panasonic went with plain-old AAA cells, not some proprietary battery pack, and the NiMH AAA's are easily/cheaply found nowadays. Will go with the higher-capacity cells and see if that puts an end to the problem.
