I recently purchased two different CPU coolers [Silent Knight and Lion Square] I found here at FatWallet but now I am tempted to buy this one too. The OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler has excellent reviews at the Egg and after reading up on it, I think I may just take the plunge!
Can anyone here tell me how the OCZ Vendetta CPU Cooler compares with the Silent Knight and Lion Square? I am trying to make a good educated decision!
I've looked at all the recent deals on CPU coolers and decided to go with Vendetta primarily due to its size and ease of the installation process. I have a Gigabyte MA785GM-US2H motherboard with Phenom II X2 550 CPU and use tall RAM modules (Patriot Viper). Install of a large cooler like Asus Lion Square or even Vendetta 2 would have blocked one or two memory slots and would require me to take the motherboard out for the install. Vendetta uses a clip just like the stock AMD cooler and there's ~2mm distance between the cooler and the RAM heat spreader (1st RAM bank). Under Prime95 load on all 4 cores (unlocked X2 CPU to use all 4 cores @ 1.35V) the temperature drop in comparison with a stock cooler is over 15C. The cooler is a bit louder than the stock, but the temp. drop is well worth it.
