OfficeDepot Printer Recycling $50 off any printer $149.99 up regular price 09-27 to 10-10. Also can use Staples and Office Max Coupons but YMMV depending on the store manager.
Remember its any printer whose original price was $149.99 even it is on sale for $79.99. You will have to fight with some store managers to convince them (based on experience) and may have to call customer service from the store.
Here are some good deals for the week of 10/03 to 10/10 HP P1006 Printer SKU 681415 = $99.99-50=49.99- 20 coupon = 39.99 HP Officejet 6500 SKU 763610 = $99.99-50=49.99 -20 = 39.99 HP Officejet 7000 SKU 634302 = 149.99-50 =99.99 - 25 = 74.99 HP Officejet 6500 wireless AIO SKU 763710 = 149.99-50=99.99 -25 Brother 5370DW SKU 787875 = 199.99 - 50 = 149.99-30 =119.99 HP Lasejet M1319F SKU 687915 = $199.99 -50 = 149.99 -30 coupon - 119.99
Q. Can I recycle any printer in any condition? A. Yes, it does not matter if its laser or inkjet or how old or working or not.
Q. Which printers can we recycle with? A. Any printer whose original price was $149.99 even if it is on sale for $79.99
Q. Is the rebate instant or will I get a check back? A. Rebate is instant, $50 will be deducted from your price
Q. What do I do if the cashier doesn't know how to handle it. A. Ask them to look for a tech recycling box. As soon as they scan that box, it will automatically add $10-$15 depending on the box size to your bill but then deduct it from your printer price in addition to the $50. For example if they charge you $10 for the box, it will deduct $60.00 (50+10)from the purchase price. Ask for the Manager if cashier doesn't understand If Manager does not understand, call corporate directly from the store. Do not leave the store and have the corporate office call the manager.
Q. Will all Office Depot Stores accept Staples Coupons? A. It YMMV. Every store manager has the discretion to let you use the coupons on technology products or not. In my experience only 1 in 2 stores allow them.
I seriously doubt they will blink an eye over it. On the HP deal, the trade in / recycled printer could be in any condition... literally they would take it even if it were freshly run over by a car in the parking lot.SneakerHead said: Does anyone know if they need the cords to the printer? Thats so true. They would even take back a fax machine instead of a printer.
Thanks- got in on the HP Photosmart AIO SKU 669006 = 109.99 -50 = 59.99. Happened to find the only 2 employees within a 100 mile radius that interpreted the ad as an either or- sale price or trade-in value. The guy actually said I could trade-in if I refused the sale price- huh? Went back the next day and found an employee who wasn't clueless. Out in 10 minutes. Thanks to an unusual occurrence- an easy OD transaction!

Was in store today and saw a poster that said the trade in event is on through 10/24. Also, asked the sales guy if power cord was required for trade in and he said it was. Called and checked w/ his manager to make sure, and she said it was, too. I've read some people's posts that they didn't have cord and they still took it. I called corporate CS to clarify if it is required, spoke w/ three different people and NOBODY knew what the printer trade in event even was! So I got nowhere w/ them.

Your problem is that you asked. They dont even look at what you are returning.
Gonna head down tomorrow morning for the HP LaserJet P1006. $179.99 - $80 IR - $50 trade in IR = $49.99. Good deal.. I have the older LJ 1012 and it's a great printer. Coincidentally I have two or three old printers I was just about to put on the curb for bulky pick up, so this is perfect!
Thanks OP. I didn't even notice this trade in deal when I looked at the ad last weekend.
Picked up the Photosmart B209 for $59.99.. Killer deal. Just finished hooking it up to three different laptops -- it was VERY easy, especially compared to the last-gen wireless HP I had to setup a while ago. I had no problem turning in an old HP 8050 with no power cord. I'm tempted to pick up another one of these HPs, then go grab some of the HP laser printers tomorrow!

The P1006 is a toner-hog, the laser-printer equivalent of some inkjet ink-hogs.

Thanks for the information. I might get a new one from staple because of 10% off coupon on their ADs.

I'm keeping my old 1012. The P1006 is just a backup. I understand I'm paying a premium for a small-footprint laser and I'm fine with that. I print a fair amount and I only replace my toner every two years or so. The P1006 may not be significantly cheaper than an inkjet to print B/W text, but it's much faster and you really can't beat the quality of a laser printer.
hmmm... tempting to trade in my HP lj 1000, but i love that sucker... toners last forever. however, need a laser AIO as I'm losing the laptop connected to lj 1000 so no network printing w/o. maybe I can fined some craptacular printer at the goodwill tech store for a dollar...
anyone recommend a good laser AIO printer, scanner (auto feeder if possible), and copier?

Correct, but can we double dip??
That is, trade in a printer at the store and get an IR and then trade in another printer by shipping another one to HP thru their trade up program?
Also, does the OD trade in deal apply to printers that are on clearance but were $149.99 before they were clearanced?
Junibutt said: Canon Multifunction MF4350D is 99.99 after recycling. Regular Price is $249.99damn, i really want that printer too. but the deal breaker is no network interface. do you have it? if so can you tell me if there's an option for it? i see some scant hint of that overseas, but not sure on this one...
OR
anyone know a good wireless n router with compatible print server (built in)?

No you cant double dip because this is an instant saving and the receipt clearly shows that recycling is done. Plus HP mail in rebate is limited to the Professional Series Only.
Yes to the pre-clearance price. AS long as the regular price was $149.99 it works, but the printer needs to be in their ad. Some managers are using their discretion to allow other printers as well.
hakujin said: wonder how much longer they are doing this at Office Depot. i picked up a printer to trade in today (Dell 720 inkjet), but not sure what I want yet. It ends October 24th. However the printer selection changes every week.

hakujin said: thanks Junibutt. Anybody sucessfully stack a coupon on top of this deal? if so, was it OD coupon or Staples? TIA!
I had success with the first 7 printers I recycled over the last 2 weeks. But now the manager has told me that I can only use a coupon or the recycle printer. I am pretty sure I can sneak one in when the manager is out

So... double dip ok? I don't see why not, unless HP looks at receipt and frowns on one printer recycle, but then, why should they care? They didn't recycle it...

why is it a concern (the receipt showing recycle)a and what if one wants the pro series, in that case it's a double dip no? It boils down to HP and whether they care if a printer has been recycle through 3rd party. I see nothing in HP reycle program that disallows this. So personal exp. would come in real handy right now!
