Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, InterContinental Friends and Family Discount Link Here is a link to a friends and family discount at all IHG hotels (Holiday Inn, Crowne Plaza, Hotel Indigo, InterContinental, Staybridge Suites, Candlewood Suites). A friend used it when traveling in Europe last month and said it saved her quite a bit. I believe you can book a stay 50 weeks ahead of time as long as the reservation is made before December 31.
As a friend or family member, you now have access to special hotel rates only available to friends and family of IHG employees! Information and rules for booking the rate are available on the program web site accessible through the link below.

you can reserve for any date up to end of year. (I believe you can book 52 weeks out, so reservations into 2010 should be fine also as long as BOOKED BY 12/31/09) see updated fine print at link when you click "terms and conditions"

I looked up the price for a reservation I made last night (AAA rate) and the price difference was $20 ($55 v. $75 for one night).
I am enrolled in several Priority Club bonus point promotions so am not going to partake in this deal (since it doesn't earn points).
Also, many IHG properties offer "Entertainment Card" rates for nearly half-off, so that might be even better than a F&F deal (which, when tied to a single name, strikes me as a bit shady).

as long as you have the printed out voucher, that's all that matters. no need for concern on who's name is on it, employees are actually encouraged to spread this around, so nothing shady about it.
Wow, pretty good price on this discount -- normal price of Candlewood (PITT) went from $99 to $52.50, which is better than the government rate, too. I'll keep this in my hip pocket in case my Reserve unit won't put me off-base for my next drill weekend. I know several IHG employees since I used to work there.

This is a great deal. Thanks mistercheap! I have an existing Holiday Inn reservation for one week at christmas time. Will it raise any red flags if I reserve with this promo and cancel the previous reservation?
I used this offer and saved $120 each night for a 3-night stay at VA Beach in August. The AAA rate was higher than the regular rate and the Entertainment rate was not available. Keep in mind the reservation is non-refundable and must be booked at least a week in advance.
I've spent 30 years in the hotel/restaurant management business. While this may be a good deal at some hotels, it may not be at others. This program is hotel-specific, and discounts are determined by the hotel, and by time of year, day of week, conventions in town, etc. My advice is as you make a reservation through this program, make one also through the hotel's toll-free number and/or internet site, and also call the hotel directly to see if they will offer a better rate during your stay. Don't mention the reservations you may have already made via the other methods. Keep the reservation that offers the best rate, and cancel the others, keeping in mind the hotel's cancellation policies. Again, please do cancel the extra reservations, so that the hotel may sell those rooms to other guests.
