I had a Sony CD boombox (not the same model) last year. The laser couldn't read CDs correctly (kept skipping back to track 1) two months into use. Contacted their tech support. Was told that the warranty is that I send back the unit plus $20 or something, they will send me a refurnished unit. I laughed at the warranty and threw the unit away. Don't plan to own any Sony CD player any time soon.

I think you seem to be right on. I have ordered and was not sure why the price is low. I bought with this a MP3/Clock Radio also that was 26 dollars which was odd why boom box low and clock radio more. I have stopped using anything made of Sony recently without knowing but my wife likes only Sony, hence I bought this. I know they have wacky thing in their laser that it does not read many medias.

I bought 2 of these refurbished last year at the Sony Outlet Store in NJ (they were $15 each) for my kids rooms and they still work fine today. It is a hit or miss with Sony refurbs.

Now to keep the thread on-topic - note that this model does NOT have an Aux input so you'll need an FM transmitter to use your MP3 player with this device.
