Doesn't renting a professional tool like this make a lot more sense, especially for a weekend warrior?

Why store something like this for years when it'll be used maybe once in a blue moon.

renting cost around $100 for 4 hours. Makes more sense to buy one.

Like WillV says, the one rental almost pays for this. You can always sell it off when you feel your done tiling for life or feel compelled to de-clutter. I use mine to slice lunch meat between tiling jobs

Tempting for an upcoming project, but don't really have space just to store it indefinitely.

Doesn't look it, but will this cut anything besides tile and sandwiches or can it be used for anything else creative?

You can use it to cut thin pavers as well (wouldn't recommend it though)...in for one to do my master bath...will sell it when I'm done for $125....

Fingers. If not careful.

A tile saw is only as good as its blade.

I have a harborFreight 10" tile saw but put a nice "Hot Dog" blade on it and it cuts everything from marble to basic cermiac perfect.
So no matter what tiel saw you get, always get a good blade if you want it to work well.

As was pointed out in another forum, this item isn't carried locally and might be hard (or impossible) to return in-store (and obviously expensive to return online). Just a heads-up.

I've seen several of these for sale on Craigslist for about $100. The two I just read said, "Used once." Might be a good idea to check CL and then invest in a new blade, since that's recommended anyway. Good price for new, though.

Figured I check myself and indeed it is a great price for new. LOL

Yes...

HD here in South FL rents these for $33 for 4 hrs. or ~$50 for 24 hrs.
They are high quality, MK units similar to this one at Amazon...which is going for $147.58 right now. I've never used the Husky model, so I can't say how they compare, but I've been really impressed w/ the quality and performance of the MK machines.

I jumped on it...couldn't resist

For small quick jobs I have used my angle head grinder with a diamond cutting blade.

how big of tile can you cut with this?

Looking at placing some 16 or 20" travertine tiles in the bathroom will this saw cut tile that big?

thanks!

Yes it will do big tiles

Keep receipt.

A lot of the Husky stuff is junk and breaks.

I have a set of Husky utility knives. Cutting cardboard occasionally, the handles simply break.
