I was refused at the Advance in Des Plaines IL. CSR said that the coupon cannot be combined with other offers and the Edge is already on sale. Still $10 for 5 QT's and a filter is pretty freaking good! I think I will use my 4 addresses for 4 rebates and be good for about 40K miles of OC's!
Is Castrol Edge the same thing as German Castrol Syntec that so many people praise about? Did Castrol finally wise up and realize so many in the US want/buy German Castrol, instead of the group III US Syntec? If so, this oil is better than Mobil 1.

Will they take the $10 off coupon if it's printed in black & white?
YMMV

considering using the edge motor oil in my fleetwood brougham, it a 94 model with the LT 1 pacakge in it, do exclusively highway drives about 1'200 miles at a time, AVG speeds 65mph, curretly using Penzoil syn & a Hastings oil filter, chang filter & top up sump every 5'000 miles at 20,000 interval change out all motor oil, will do same possibly with the edge motor oil, going to do the sampling along with it to see what really goes on.THATS THINKIN WITH YOUIR DIPSTICK, JIMMEY!!

Castrol Edge is a group V oil and Mobile 1 is only a group III oil. $5 cheaper and better oil? Go for the gold bottle!
First of all, it depends on which formulation you use. Edge 10w30, for example, is not group V. It is 80-85% group III basestock. 15% PAO does not a group V oil make. I've seen the MSDS. 0W40? Maybe. I don't know.
As to the poster below, to my knowledge, the only GC available here is GC 0W40. No other weights available. Someone can correct me on that if they know differently.
That stated, you aren't going to go wrong with either. Engines failing due to group III oils vs group IV are about as rare as unicorns. I've been running M1EP for the last 10k, but I'm certainly not opposed to using Edge this time around with that rebate. Think I'll get some to stock up, and use my other address as well.
And yes - I am aware that this was bumped from on old.
