Most of the nation doesn't have a Fry's or a J&R...those are fairly regional stores. There's also a huge difference between B&M and online. I'm not going to buy a tv online because returning it is a pain in the butt. Also, how am I going to impulse buy a videogame or openbox shop online?
Don't forget Sears for a TV, though. Their prices aren't bad, especially clearance sales.

I am sorry. This is my first post. I just received that promotional mail from Best Buy yesterday and was too excited that I can also contribute something on the fatwallet. It looks like this offer is by invitation only. It worked for me.

Do you return TVs often?
When I bought an LCD tv and, 2 weeks after purchase, a solid green showed up that wouldn't go away...yes, I did.
The whole point is, why would anyone wish Best Buy to go out of business. I don't particularly like them, but you're actually saying you'd like less competition in the market? Yeah, that's a great way to keep prices in check. Circuit City going under was horrible because it left Best Buy as the lone 800lb gorilla of consumer electronics.

Right, and they abuse customers (especially the elderly) in every way possible. People don't want them to go out of business so the market suffers, but rather, because they deserve the fury of the universe for being such assholes.
I bought my Pioneer Elite plasma from Vanns.com, shipped from Montana with absolutely no problems after nearly 2 years.

I tried my "Blue" card and I guess that it worked. It told me to go ahead start shopping at Bestbuy and gave me a link.
Funny thing, this is a secondary card on my wife's account. I've used this card three years in a row for the AMEX/Bestbuy X-mas promotion.
I'm buying an ipod Touch for my Four-year old. That's right, I said four. She can't put my iPhone down so we decided to go ahead and get her a Touch. After showing her once she knows how to use just about everything on it, including calling Mom and Grandma so.....
Thanks Ganguly2009, if I hadn't seen this post, I might have tossed the BB/AMEX mailer I got in the mail today. I'm sure I can find something between now and the end of the year.

I avoided online stores for my two HDTV purchases for this exact reason. I bought it at Costco online. They ship it to your home for the exact same price as B&M. If you return the TV, you get all charges, including shipping, returned. Also, Costco customer service is far beyond what you'd get online. They also extend the manufacturer warranty and offer their own tech support.
For the money I could have saved online, it simply wasn't worth it if I had a single problem.
